Topic: Do you subscribe to any gaming magazines?

I used to subscribe to OPM about 20 odd years ago, and then more recently picked up a copy to see how much it had changed. I barely recognised it as the same magazine, which isn't too surprising. It's a bit too expensive for me these days for what you get out of it.

I think magazines like Amiga Power were a product of their time in that the gaming industry was still fairly young and wasn't a global superpower of corporate advertising yet. The gaming magazines of the 80's and 90's still had an a bit of an edge and underground vibe to them. I loved those mags.

Nowadays I only read Retro Gamer, because even if I don't know every game (I wasn't a Nintendo player) I feel like it still does a better job of talking about games than your modern systems magazines do.

I was a subscriber to ONM for years. When it shut down, they actually recommended Nintendo Life which is how I ended up going there and by extension, Push Square. I still see some of the old staff working, Chris Scullion does quite a few articles on NLife now and I used to love reading his scathing reviews of FIFA on the Wii cause he used to use pictures of Celtic. Magazines are disappearing which is a real shame, I used to love the features they’d do. It’s hard to maintain the same level of creativity on news sites like this as you’re trying to cover as much actual news as possible.

Do they still have magazines?? I haven't touched one for years. I had a subscription to Nintendo Power when I was a kid, but that was it.

I've been subscribing to OPM since I got a PS4 and used to sub to a 360 one when I had that console. I occasionally pick up Edge and Empire also. I prefer reading from a book or magazine than from a tablet or phone.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Shout out for GamesTM, may it rest in peace

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

I was a subscriber (well, my local newsagent would order it and save me the copy) of OPM in the PS1 era. Not sure if I still have the vast number of demo discs I acquired over the years. Not sure why I stopped getting them.

@RogerRoger I remember playing the MGS demo and played it so many times before getting the game proper. The Net Yaroze games were also great fun too!
