A big story of both State of Play and Summer Game Fest is that no games want to go head-to-head with GTA 6.
We’ve seen software evacuate November entirely, which has resulted in ridiculous crowding throughout September and early October.
But a remaster of 2002’s Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee looks like it’s got the guts to go toe-to-toe with Rockstar’s opus, as the reliable snoop billbil-kun reports that a remaster is locked for 3rd November – a little over two weeks prior to the anticipated open world.

Obviously these two titles aren’t competing directly really, but it is interesting to see someone occupy that early November release window – maybe the game will find success there, considering everyone else has vacated the month.
Original developer Pipeworks is said to be making this remaster, which is unusual in that this will mark its PlayStation debut.
Despite the PS2 being the dominant platform in the early 2000s, this game launched as a GameCube exclusive before eventually being ported to the Xbox. I’m not entirely sure why it skipped Sony’s system.
The release has a variety of different modes, including destruction where your objective is to cause as much carnage as possible. But I always remember it as a kind of Tekken-type title involving giant kaiju.
According to billbil-kun the remaster will feature enhanced visuals, online multiplayer, and additional single player campaigns for each monster. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this announced at any of the remaining 50 livestreams scheduled for this weekend.

Would be funny if GTAVI ended up getting delayed again, because then we could say Rockstar ran away from the Godzilla game.
Oh this is awesome. My little brother and I used to play this so much as kids
@Gaia093 funnier if GTAIV ends up releasing earlier than expected in September just to mess with all the games releasing then.
I can understand the big AAAs avoiding GTA but I think there's a big opportunity for an indie to market itself like "If your buying one game in November then you're probably buying GTA, but if you're buying two games this November, then buy our game."
This looks potentially just as interesting as GTA6 to me. I wonder when this is getting announced.
I hope it’s expanded too. I love Godzilla.
Maybe they thing, like me, that GTA 6 will still be delayed. After all, we still have seen nothing of the game, and you would have thought it would have showed up in last night's show. Geoff would have been falling over himself in an effort to include it...
@AdamNovice Like the Austin Powers trailer. It came out right next to a Star Wars film and used a similar tagline.
Game was ok, if you love Godzilla you would like this. Not sure how does this compare to the PS4 game, I never played that one.
Surprised they chose this over Saves the Earth since it has more content but I’ll take it.
This game freakin’ ruled on the GameCube.
This’ll be a day one purchase for me fo’ sho’
It garnered them this article so I guess it works to some degree!
I’m not buying GTA anyway, so guess I’m going Godzilla.
@Matroska You have a good memory, that's exactly what I was thinking.
