@Ravix How far into Control are you, or have you finished it already by the time i've typed this?
Probably not that far, I didn't play last night. I mainly went through a couple of editions of the book and looked to see of I could find any differences while listening to a lot of music, other than a movie it was a quiet evening. Lots of shared silence too, Control isn't a quiet game, especially if you use the the spinning gun, it's really fast and really loud. It's a weekday so we'll be going out as always, that means another three hours of gaming once we're back. The last part I remember was puzzle with punch-cards, there were maybe five and some whiteboards to follow for clues. I also found a room with two giant speakers and when I pressed play the room was filled with a great song from a band I'd never heard before, it went right on the playlist.
That's the one.
I'd been mostly focusing on that trophy for the five random events that ThrillHo mentioned. It seems highly missable and mildly annoying for some. Once that popped I familiarized myself with the map until I knew where everything was without needing the map itself. I also upgraded some items and got a a gun that charges up and shoots a kind of spike of energy that seems to one shot everything. It was pretty funny when some kind of new enemy on a flying chair showed up and one blast from that gun made them go poof, I have Mods on that thing for damage so it's easily doing another +50% while aiming. It's gone right through shields and wiped out whatever that person was. Those Mods make different playstyles more enjoyable too, mine is to aim for the head and fire away, the reticle goes orange when it has a target meaning I can hit them a considerable distance too. I don't see it as a difficult game anymore, not when those Mods are easy to get from loot/enemies/easy events. It's only difficult when you have the first form of that gun and no Mods for either the weapon or the character.
I'm really comfortable with the game-play now, health is maxed and I have two Mods for +28% more health each, they stack. I saw a drop of maybe twenty percent health from one big ambush. It adds to the confidence of being able to push forward when the game ups the number or difficulty of the enemies. I think that gun is called a Piercer, it's really strong.
Those robo birds/drone vultures were one of the worst things about the game, they weren't hard, just completely unrewarding. It felt like it was going to lead to some kind of target or base, anything really, or better yet the ability to have or hack your own drone. I'd wonder if they removed content. The man in Little Odessa who was supposed to translate the knife felt like cut content, I was sure he'd give a run down on Kraven's history but he basically gave a brief Pet Sematary styled warning and Spiderman didn't push for an actual explanation, he just swung off. Also there was only one person in the whole of Little Odessa who spoke Russian? I could stop anyone on the street there and they will know my language. I thought perhaps they cut it over cultural sensitivity, he's a Russian Aristocrat and we aren't exactly liked in modern times either. Then there were those recordings in each base, they might be what replaced what would have been a real background to the character. He was larger than life and they opted for a couple of recordings? I'm sure there was more to that scene, maybe they cut content from other parts and replaced it with so much of that 'this feels off' content/dialogue. Maybe different teams worked on the beginning, middle and end and never really hashed out continuity. I'm sure they had that Holiday deadline to meet.
Also they do make lifesized Barbie boxes like that but they are usually for mannequins/display purposes. That could be creepy, except for people who are into dolls and some are. A good old fashioned Solid Snake box does the trick and stealth increases exponentially. Failing that there are always tables to hide under, the only risk there is banging your head off the top.
Your Spiderman pictures make me think of The Sims and how we don't have a dedicated next-gen version. It also reminds me of something the game got right that the early ones didn't. If you stopped to do anything in the street everyone would stop like robots and 'look it's Spiderman!', New Yorkers stop for nothing, not even their own shadows. They invented 'hey I'm walking here' and it still stands today. Spiderman 1 made it impossible to take natural street shots without having glassy eyed pedestrians staring back into the lens. Miles Morales got around that by hitting stealth and immediately people would go back to their walking etc. Spiderman 2 got it right by having people continue (mostly) with their lives, it was more realistic and can lead to more genuine images like yours.
Also whoever turned Fisk Tower into that eye-sore that it is in Spiderman 2? There is a four on the roof now, as in the Fantastic Four? There's nothing fantastic about that building now, all of it's architectural brilliance has been replaced with what looks like a thermos-flask. That's a Central Park corner entrance view, how are said super heroes paying the upkeep for that property when Spiderman can't even pay for rental accommodation? He's around cash and narcotics the whole time and never double dips, yet some stretchy guy, rock man, fire guy and someone's wife can occupy that space? doubtful. I can understand the Avengers tower, Tony Stark is a man of business. What do the Fantastic Four do? (checking the internet) 'intellectual property, patents, and advanced technology' right well it's still an ugly building compared to that once proud standing Fisk Tower.
