aloha, iam still playing God of War and iam having a great time slaying gods, trolls and anything between. At the moment i am fighting Gunnr, the first valkyrie and i have been slaughtered many many many times. I have a feeling that i will slay her today, working hard on the parries and dodges will make me unhittable since she only need 1 or 2 shots to take me down. STill the game and the atmosphere keep me playing and i will not falter in my voyage to the mountain. Since i am from a former norse country i also appreciate the awesome picture that Santa Monica studio has painted of midgard and the mythology.
I think GOW is one of my all time favourite games at the moment and it has even made me quit the online shenaningans. Well, i have been dabbling with Stellaris too, since they made a ps5 version too. Oohh that makes me want to play some more crusader kings. Well, all in good time. Merry Advent everybody
I'm currently pairing Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered with Once Upon a Katamari and have no regrets. It's such a treat to be finally rolling around in new Katamari levels!

I wasn't sure what the best place to post this was, but this seemed as good as any. I just saw an upload on the official PlayStation channel for the release of a PlayStation port for the game Showgunners. I posted a review about it in the impressions thread a while ago now and I highly recommend checking it out if you're into turn-based tactic games like X-Com. It's a great action romp with incredible presentation, an engaging story and fun characters. It has definitely stuck with me since playing. I'll link the post to my review and the trailer below if anyone is intrigued:
I'm still hooked on Elden Ring Nightreign. So much so I genuinely haven't been playing anything else. The two new nightlords are brilliant boss fights and the two new nightfarers, Scholar and Undertaker, are both so much fun to play as. I think a lot of people are leaning towards Undertaker because she is super cool, in fairness, and her ultimate is incredibly satisfying to use, but Scholar has absolutely insane potential if you play him right.
I'm still having difficulty navigating the new shifting earth but I'm sure that map knowledge will come with time. There are so many different layers to it and it's a little difficult to know where you are in an instant when you look at the map as it's so vertical but some of the new POIs are really interesting and yield some great rewards if you clear them.
It's also my most played game this year according to my PlayStation Wrap-Up. No surprise there really.
@Metonymy 24 levels to go man. Costing me about 100,000 souls (runes) to level up currently! 😂🤣. That Miyazaki sure knows how to pile on the interest when it comes to charging for levels. At that point I will be at the recommended level of 150 for the DLC, but I will still have to go through the steps to access it, in addition to acquiring some cosmetic materials in order to make my Sekiro build look as authentic as possible, plus I need to get the next Bell Bearing to upgrade my weapon to +18 (then it should do about 450 damage) but, yeah, it's basically two more levels of Vigor and then 22 levels of Endurance to make it to level 150. A lot of admin work, basically.
How is/are your current game or games going?
Oh, and what level was your char at roughly when you tackled the DLC?

Couldn't get into Dragons Dogma 2, so saving it for the future. Just started my first Trails game with Trails of the Sky 1st Chapter and been liking it alot, the combat system is interesting as I haven't seen such flexibility in a system like this before
I've been playing Planet Coaster 2 since I finished/gave up on Silksong and it's been a nice change of pace but I really suck at actually designing rollercoasters in the game
And much like Planet Zoo from the same developers, I really struggle with any creativity when it comes to building my park. Some of the designs I see on reddit for coasters, rides, and parks are just incredible but I'm more than happy just plodding along as I am.
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN I know it’s been a heck of a grind for you but it sounds like you’re almost there, all things considered. I can’t remember exactly what level I was at but I want to say somewhere around 120-130. It felt right if not maybe a little under leveled. Erdtree is difficult!
Still playing through Ghost of Yotei myself. It’s very fun and very beautiful.
@Tjuz Really hope it gels for you! Charge your shots, explore every nook n’ cranny and upgrade inventory space! I’d love to hear your thoughts when you’ve processed them!

@Metonymy Yeah, the grind can take it's toll for sure. With that in mind, I may feel that levelling Vigor to the max and leaving it there may be just what the doctor ordered. I plan on acquiring as many scadutree blessings as soon as possible when I start the DLC, and there is a YouTube method that shows how you can get a number of them, without fighting any bosses, so I am hoping that, plus my upgraded Mimic Tear and max damage/max HP will be enough to carry me through! So, cheers to that, and now, with that new thought in mind - I only have 2 levels to go!
Cheers and Good Luck with Yotei!
Edit: I read elsewhere that the official recommendation is between level 100 and 150, so 120-130 should be fine for most people, hopefully you can have another go at the final boss someday!

@Metonymy So far, so good! I've always been partial to sci-fi, but haven't really experienced that within the survival horror space so far, so I've been enjoying that. I'm not too far into it yet. Probably just around an hour. I've noticed that charging the shots is very important, yes! I wasted about all my shots taking the first enemy down, only to still have to finish it off with melee attacks. I learned my lesson there. Also, embarrassed to say that the very first tutorial ''merged'' enemy I encountered killed me four times before I downed it. It took a bit to get the timing of the the charging right. I'm used to charging mechanics with guns not automatically discharging, so it was a little bit trial and error to figure out how best to aim while charging and when to be precise. I think I've got it down now, since the enemies since have been no problem! I've already prioritised upgrading my charging speed as a result, haha. Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely keep it in mind while playing and get back to you when I have stuff to say!
I got to level 60 for Vigor (recommended max soft cap) in ELDEN RING today, with that, plus having my Strength at 28 and my Dexterity at 80 for my Keen Dex Build, I have reached maximum HP/Damage Output for the current status of my weapon (+12), once I reach +18 for my weapon, plus have acquired and upgraded the Mimic Tear Spirit Ashes to +7, I feel I should be ready for the DLC. I will endeavour to upgrade my build further in the DLC with scadutree blessings and upgrade my Mimic Tear further, also, with the Revered Spirit Ashes, and then hopefully I can surmount that awesome challenge. Next stop, Margit, the Fell Omen.
Edit: My character is at level 128, the recommended soul (rune) level is between 100 and 150, so I am hoping that between the scadutree blessings and the revered spirit ashes w/Mimic Tear I can beef up my build enough for that tremendous final boss. 🤞

@Tjuz There’s definitely a bit of a learning curve but the game does a good job of teaching the player what it expects from them, and then leans into it hard. For me, the weapon sway together with charging shots added to the tension and led to this really neat rhythm, once I was able to find it. You can aim for limbs to knock enemies down but I always found going for the headshot to be the most effective. Of course fire as well! Especially early on, some encounters can almost feel like a puzzle to figure out.
Glad it’s working for you so far! I too really like the blending of sci-fi and survival horror. For a game that unapologetically pulls inspiration from so many sources, it’s remarkable how much of its own thing it is in the end.
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Nicely done! I’m excited to hear your thoughts as your journey carries over into the Land of Shadow.

@Metonymy Yeah, I do really like the weapon sway! I'm sure it gets easier to manage as I keep upgrading the stability and such too, but it hardly seems like something I desperately need to do, so I've been prioritising the other upgrades. Good to know I can aim for the limbs if ever I get in a rough spot (which, no doubt, will happen)! Like yourself, I've been going exclusively for headshots as I do in pretty much every game. I played all of Silent Hill 2 Remake without ever even realising I could shoot the legs to immobilise enemies, so I definitely need someone to tell me this kind of stuff or I wouldn't think of it! Haha.
Yesterday I reached the point of the first Ascendance that goes wrong and met the Warden for the first time that you mentioned before. I'd say it was a perfectly timed section as I'd been starting to get a bit restless for some more answers on what is going on! That whole part definitely caught my interest more than ever before. Fascinating stuff. I can't wait to see where it goes.
Man, I am having such a blast playing ELDEN RING with a Sekiro 'Wolf' Build, or 'Sekiro 2.0', 🤣as I like to call it! It's infinitely better than vanilla Sekiro, to my mind, in terms of being infinitely more fun to play as the build becomes progressively overpowered, Sekiro, in his vanilla context, is never really that powerful until he gets the op endgame weapon, and even then, you really have to use your skills and think on your feet. Sekiro 2.0 in an ELDEN RING context, soon to be an SOTE context, is just so much more of a power trip. 😃

@Tjuz That’s the moment the game started to get its claws (Harvester?) into me and then never let up. The level design really begins to shine around this point as well.
The narrative is no doubt very drip-fed, arguably too much so but there’s also an argument to be made that mystery is a valuable and effective tool of horror. Here, ambiguity is the name of the game (it’s actually Cronos😉) and definitive answers are not something it doles out willy-nilly. Good luck as you creep into ground zero, such is our calling.
