@LtSarge I played with the Japanese audio and can't imagine playing the game any other way; the Yakuza games have made me much prefer to use it where possible. That said, I did feel I was missing out a little bit when NPCs were chatting away and there weren't any subtitles to let me know what the background dialogue was on about.
The DLC is really good if you've not played it before with some beautiful areas. There's some little PlayStation nods in the region too, plus I seem to remember a set of armour you unlock there offering something a bit different for combat too.
@Thrillho Same here, but unfortunately Japanese audio feels like an afterthought here compared to the Yakuza games. Like you said, there are no subtitles for the background dialogue. And like I mentioned earlier, lip-syncing still feels a bit off. Not to mention that the voices don't really fit the characters in my opinion. I don't know, I've never had any issues with the Japanese audio in Yakuza but in GoT, it feels wrong. Even playing the game in English feels wrong, so there really isn't a best option. Maybe I'll get used to it over time.
I haven't played the DLC as this is my first time playing the game but I'm looking forward to experiencing it as well! Speaking of which, can you get access to the DLC during the story or does it happen after you're done with the game? If there's armour to unlock, then I'd rather do the DLC as soon as possible in order to use the armour in the base game as well.
@LtSarge I don’t remember the lip sync being such an issue after the upgrade but it was pretty bad before!
From memory the DLC can be available during the game (I played it having already finished the main story) but the story makes most sense to play after finishing the main game.
@Thrillho@LtSarge The DLC is available after you've traveled to the second part of Tsushima Island. This is marked by completing Act 1 and the mission "Shadow of the Samurai. I see some people reccomend starting it after finishing the main campaign though.
I yet to start it myself, but do want to before i get to the sequel. Which will most likely won't be anywhere near it is released.

I played the Iki Island DLC just last year and it does feel like it is made to do after the main game, although it lacks its own end titles, so by the end of the story it just stops, which is a little jarring when playing it as a standalone story.
I think it would also fit in to playing it mid game, but you'd have to find a specific point where it feels right to canonically spend a few weeks/months on another island. And I cant recall if there are any good story moments to go and do that or not.
Really good game, of course, but they still have lessons to learn to make Yotei reach its potential in terms of gameplay in the open-world, side questing and map marker clearing being a little close to "bad ubisoft" in design. Oh, and the roaming enemies are a little (extremely) trite too 😅
Stunning game though, and can't wait for more 😁
Definitely recommend getting that DLC consumed, @JohnnyShoulder
I beat Genichiro Ashina in Sekiro this afternoon. Thoroughly elated at the victory. Got the goodies that accompany the success and feel completely able to take on the next challenge after a well-deserved rest.

@Thrillho@JohnnyShoulder@Ravix Thanks for the info! I'll hold off on starting up the DLC until I'm done with the main game.
@Ravix If I'm going to be honest, Ghost of Tsushima is probably the most copy and paste I've seen from PlayStation Studios. It's literally an Assassin's Creed clone! It's absolutely a good game, but when talking about games that reuse formulas, then it's baffling how Sony gets away with it and not Ubisoft.
@LtSarge yeah, it is an interesting one. I think the tone is maybe the only reason people don't dunk on if for that more often. AC struggles with tone and Ghost is overall a lot more mature. And the silly parts in Ghost, of which there certainly are some, are maybe a bit better and don't stand out as much.
I'd argue that some of the gameplay loop (outside of combat) is actually worse than the modern AC games, as they are kind of new to doing it, especially the way guards patrol the world and the camps not being quite as well designed for clearing in interesting ways, for a few examples.
It's certainly a better movie than an AC game though, as AC games are so convoluted and this is more grounded.
@Jimmer-jammer Thanks, man. He was very challenging. A worthy foe, indeed. @Hapless@CJD87@Th3solution I hear Genichiro ,the boss I just beat in Sekiro, is essentially the "noob filter" of the game. 🤣 So, therefore I feel more confident about subsequent challenges. Sol, I hope this spurs you on in your feelings of encouragement about playing the game. Are you still a bit reticent about your confidence in your parrying skills?

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Congrats! And yes, although I still wonder if I can get proficient at it, I’m still planning to get around to Sekiro eventually.

I played a few more hours of my current main game, Star Wars Outlaws, and have continued to enjoy it. It’s plays slightly different from other Ubi games, but has the Assassins Creed foundation in there, and a splash of an Uncharted aura with its cover shooting and melee, with an affable scoundrel protagonist at the center. And it’s all wrapped in a nice Star Wars skin to make it feel novel from either of those franchises.
If I had an early complaint, it would be that it’s a little confusing in the opening hours. The game assumes you know basic gameplay mechanics and principles. And of course I do, but there’s still a slightly disjointed nature of the early game. Fortunately it is gradually leveling out. The familiar aspects like running, jumping, shooting, sneaking, vehicle driving, and basic exploration all feel natural and like any other 3rd person action game, so I’m fine without any handholding on those aspects. But I think there should be better onboarding about other aspects like the leveling, skill acquisition, equipment upgrading, menu navigation, and basic criteria for progression. A few of the games unique mechanics and features should have been better explained such as how to use your companion Nix, and the reputation building amongst the game’s various gangs. These little components as well as the map layout have not been as intuitive as I feel a game should be in its opening hours. I look down and realize I’ve played for over 8 hours total and still feel like I’m learning the basics of this world. In some ways I guess that’s a good thing, because the time has flown by without my getting bored of it. But after 8 hours I would expect to have a clear course of how I am going to approach my playthrough, rather than just floating about, waiting for the gameplay to eventually ‘click’.
In a FromSoft game, I expect a little early game mystery amd abstruseness with its mechanics, but in a more casual Ubisoft game, I don’t think they intend for players to be looking stuff up in guides to know what strategy they’re supposed to be taking this far into the game. So I doubt the ambiguities are intentional, as they would be in a Souls game.
Still, the game isn’t hard, and it’s enjoyable for a Star Wars and open world fan, so I think it’s going to be well worth the effort.

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Well done man...! And yes, he can definitely be considered a serious "skill check" boss. Ultimately, if you can find the skill to beat Lady Butterfly and also Genericho... you will have the necessary tools to beat the game.
Of course there are many more challenges to come, but (last boss aside..!) they don't feel as insurmountable as the aforementioned early encounters.
I’m debating on whether or not I want to buy AC: Shadows. XBX comes out the same day — a game I’ve already preordered and installed — and that will be my main focus. Subsequently, Atomfall also releases very soon. I think that will be my next game I’ll be playing on the PS5, unless I want a short bite sized game. Either way, we are eating good with games right now.

Playing Lords of The Fallen (2023). It took a few hours for it to click, but once I'd reached the main hub and the first proper location it got its hooks into me.
I quite like going into the Umbral void to get round obstacles and stuff. I have fallen to my doom on a couple of occasions when the ladder I was going lead into nothing but a world of pain! 😂

@JohnnyShoulder Nice, I’m glad you’re enjoying it after the initial hurdle. I have that game in my backlog, but I am never in the right headspace to want to play it. I’m sure I will eventually. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your posts regarding your experience with the game.
I've been playing the free-to-play MMORPG Throne and Liberty. It's amazing that we can play games this well made without having to spend any money.
I've got all the story related trophies, so I'm just going to try and get the trophies for doing each of the events before I move onto Assassin's Creed Shadows. The rest of the trophies are all co-op based, so I won't bother with those as I've just been treating the game as a single-player experience.
@Th3solution It sounds like you slightly preferred your time with the Jedi Cal Kestis games, from that description of your continuing adventures in Outlaws' open world, but still sounds like you are having a blast, which is important. Does the absence of a lightsaber make much of a difference?
@Jimmer-jammer Excellent work, man, sounds like you are having a great time and getting up to all kinds of eccentric, although not always necessarily high-octane (it's not a Souls game, after all!😉 ) escapades and indulging yourself in various mischievous antics to further the creation of your own narrative within the game's world.
Best of luck to both of you with the completion of your games!
