@CaptD two for two indeed… I’ll have to start repaying the favour 😄.

That’s mad that you brought up Remnant 2, I was only thinking about it this evening. I’d actually be up for playing it at release if you were on board. No pressure though, I’d hang fire 👍

@Th3solution yeah I get you on the narrative… it is pretty bare bones (which on the whole is fine by me tbh). As you say though, the gameplay is excellent. Honestly some of the best boss battles that I’ve had for a while!

Deep into Jedi Survivor... Absolutely love the game and its level design but on top of performance issues last night was one of my buggiest experiences in gaming in a looooong time.
First, the resume activity (which is the default way to start the game from the home screen) would just load into a black screen and stay there. Luckily starting the game "normally" and loading from the menu fixed it.
Then, I encountered a progression breaking bug on my way to Pilgrim's Sanctuary (reloading last save and doing the platforming section again fixed it).
Then I encountered another progression breaking bug on my way out of Pilgrim's Sanctuary.
Luckily this was also fixed by reloading but all this and a random crash on top of it, all in one day - not great.

I do think it's a testament to how good the game is otherwise that none of it affects my desire to get back to it as soon as I can

@Voltan You can just start games normally without hitting Resume Activity. Just clicking on the game's tile will load the game up normally, which is technically the default way. You have to physically move to the Resume Activity button, so I'm a bit confused by that statement.

Not trying to call you dumb or anything. Just pointing out that it's not the default way to load a game. If I ever do play both Jedi games, I'll be glad to have waited so long.

@KilloWertz I'll check again when I'm home but I might've been pressing down on the home screen to get to the resume button and it's become so automatic that I no longer remember doing it
Either way it was the fastest way to get back to playing and it became broken for me and got me scared that my save could be corrupted or something. Luckily that was not the case.

@Voltan I agree with @KilloWertz This is the way I launch games and I never use Resume activity due to the problems I've read about it (mainly related to progression and trophy tracking).

@Voltan I always use quick resume from the PS5 home page too, as I find it a bit quicker seeing as some games skip the developer icons and what not. I don't recall experiencing any issues when using it either. Not to dismiss anyone that has though.

@JohnnyShoulder @Voltan Same, I've used that Resume option a lot and never had any problems with it or any trophies. I guess I must have been lucky though if there are reported issues so perhaps I should change my habits before it's too late.

Voltan

@render @JohnnyShoulder Well yeah, I have been using it since I started the game and this was the only time it didn't work. It went back to normal after I saved the game again at another spot.

@CaptD That looks annoying so guess I've been really lucky so far with what I've been playing that it hasn't affected any trophies. Will try to teach myself to not use that option.

Luckily I'm not too bothered about trophies.... but see how it could be a bummer if you are.

@Voltan Undoubtedly that's why. I can understand you not even noticing it anymore though if you do it on a daily basis. The feature potentially screwing with your game save is exactly why I don't use it. Well, that and the fact that I save my game before I quit on any game that doesn't force you to go to a save point.

In the end, like you said, luckily nothing happened with your save and that's what's important in the end. I'm not saying you should stop doing whatever works for you either obviously.

@JohnnyShoulder Quick Resume? Have you been secretly gaming on a Series X of late? Yes, I know what you meant.

@RogerRoger Most of the bugs I encountered somehow all occurred in that one session. It hasn't been bad at all otherwise

Voltan

Voltan

@RogerRoger I apparently explored about 97% of Koboh and 100% of both Coruscant and the moon (Jedha still needs some work) so I guess you could say that

Playing Grid Legends, it's actually not that bad but then I haven't played a Grid game since Grid 2.
Looking forward to Ratchet and Clank tomorrow....I can't keep up with all these PS+ games, how I hate subscription services.

@Voltan @RogerRoger Thankfully I haven’t had any technical issues with Jedi Survivor so far. I’m just a few hours in, but it seems solid enough. I’m avoiding performance mode; the regular default visual settings run fine. In fact, I’m not an expert on frame rate but it feels faster than 30 fps. Pretty smooth so far.

I don’t remember the combat being this visceral feeling in the first game. The combination of combat animations with the sound effects is fantastic. Some of the best I’ve experienced in a while. There’s just no competing with the ‘wum-wum-ptshhh’ sound of a lightsaber. It has been hard to get used to the default controls scheme since I keep wanting to follow my FromSoft Souls muscle memory and strike with R1. And man, they really throw a lot of moves and mechanics at you right out of the gate. I knew from reviews that you start off with a lot more at your disposal than in Fallen Order, but I’m having trouble keeping up. I’m holding my own with the normal difficulty setting though.

So far I think the environment looks top notch but the character appearance is strangely less crisp, a little muddy at times, especially facial animation. Do you have a recommendation of visual settings? I need to try messing with film grain, HDR settings, motion blur, etc. I never quite know what to do with those.

In all, some great early impressions though.

I had another bug in Jedi Survivor last night where I couldn't finish one of the puzzles on Jedha, because one of the orbs-on-rails would either move or not depending on another one's position, while the puzzle required it to move in both.
Reloading fixed it but obviously I spent a good 20 minutes trying to find what I'm doing wrong before I tried that

@Voltan I hate it when a game bugs out like that. I’ve still not had any problems with Jedi Survivor but I had a similar thing in one of the puzzles in Hogwarts Legacy. I spent like 30 min. trying to solve it and finally googled a solution video and saw that something in the room didn’t reset correctly. Also ended up reloading and fixing it but it drives me crazy.

@Th3solution Oh I hope things go well with Jedi Survivor. I still have to beat the first game.. Which is something I might do if I was not so busy with another game at the moment. That said I feel quite strongly about the new Star Wars games as they seem to be very cool games.
