@Dusk_Actual
I found the DLC for the main Spider-Man game to be more of a challenge than anything in the main campaign! I think they introduced some new enemy types which took me a while to adapt to. But if you enjoyed trying to 100% everything as much as I did then I would say you should definitely complete them as well, just so you know that you have and that there was nothing remaining you could have done.

Think it is really unfair to call Miles Morales dlc and a bit lazy tbh. I enjoyed it more than the first game, with a shorter and tighter experience, with the new powers introduced more fun to use too.

@Jimmer-jammer appreciate the tags, cheers buddy 👍. Glad you’re enjoying Steel Rising… and yeah it’s definitely one that I have on my radar. I’ve been monitoring amazon pretty much daily since it released hoping to catch it on a daily reduction but it never seems to go on sale sadly. I’m in no rush though, I have my souls-likes planned for 2023 (The Surge 2 and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin… though the latter might not be a souls-like in the strictest sense) but will be even more inclined to pull the trigger on Steel Rising off of the back of your recommendation.
@Jimmer-jammerThe Surge was definitely one for the purists. Slow methodical combat, in much the same way the early From Soft souls games played. Build diversity is as good as any souls-likes for me as there is an interchangeable chip system that is very mix-and-match as per personal preference. And while boss diversity was fairly average, mob combat was very good. From what I gather The Surge 2 improves on all fronts, so really excited to finally try it.
As far as Steel Rising is concerned, I love the setting from what I’ve seen. That baroque/belle epoque world is very appealing to me. Also, as you mentioned in regards to level design, I’ve heard that aspect is very good… with the metroidvania inspired aspects especially well implemented. Out of interest, does it run at 60fps on PS5?
@Bentleyma yeah, time has been real kind to Death Stranding with many of the gamers who were originally put off by the ‘parcel-delivery’ gameplay-loop actually really enjoying it once they give it a go. Such a haunting and atmospheric game… I often reflect on my time with it, even though it’s been about 3 years since I played it.
Internet went down yesterday, so had a look at Death's Door and ended up playing about 3 hours of it! It really pulled me in. I'll be back at Cyberpunk later tonight but I'll definitely be jumping on to this game after I've finished Cyberpunk and then Ragnarok, it will definitely break up my big rpg games I've been playing lately
I started Midnight Suns today, after waffling about whether to mop up some trophies in Spiderman or begin Miles Morales. I’m no trophy hunter, unless it’s easy trophies.
Midnight Suns is pretty good thus far. I’ve not read much of the comics, almost all my marvel experience is via the movies and ComicsXplain on YouTube, so I don’t know how much the characters resemble their comic book counterparts. Iron Man seems pretty close to the Downey Jr Iron Man from the movies though.
I bought a couple of the PSN store sale items, and I’ve been playing a little of this, a little of that, emphasis on the lat. Specifically,
—Biomutant. It’s a gorgeous game, and it’s been keeping my interest pretty well.
—Nobody Rules the World. I introduced it to my nephews today, and they sat around the tv playing it in couch co-op mode for several hours.
—Videokid. It’s a fun retro remake of Paperboy with blocky, Minecrafty graphics and loads of 1980s tv, movie, and pop culture references.
—Leap of Fate. A PS4 roguelite gem that’s worth a look if you like arcadey, twin stick action and low prices.
—Silver Chains. A PS4 survival horror game that’s got a bunch of puzzling situations that you have to work your way through. Is it scary? Not really, but it’s a good few hours of entertainment at a low sale price.
@jgrangervikings1 Having completed Biomutant a couple of months ago I’d advise you to ignore lots of side content otherwise you’ll get burnt out as there’s just too much.
You can also tinker with settings to turn the frequency of the narrator right down so you don’t hear the same lines over and over and over from him. Turning off the chatter from NPCs also helps as that got on my nerves after a while.
Make use of the crafting mechanics too as a lot of the best weapons I had in the game were ones I made. Saving the best gear for a 7* weapon is definitely worth it though!
@Thrillho Thanks for the tips, sir! Much appreciated. I loaned the PS5 out to my nephews for the week while they’re staying at grandma’s house, so when they leave and fly back to Colorado, I hope the PS5 and games will still be working.
As an aside, you’d think game developers would do a better job of spicing up the narrator commentary so it’s not so repetitive. That’s definitely something that gaming companies should care more about. Which game was it…maybe Bastion…that boasted the narrator never repeats himself? Whatever game it was, that’s the gold standard all games should be achieving in 2022 and beyond.
Until I get the PS5 back, I’m revisiting my PS3:
—Cubixxx is highly underrated. Playable by 8 people in couch co-op!
—Max Payne 3. Still holds up pretty well, but the game is dark and enemies blend into the darkness. Aarg!
—Just Cause 2. Not as good as Just Cause 3 or 4, but still playable.
Horizon Forbidden West. The production values for this game are insane. It looks stunning. The game has yet to click with me fully, but I am still enjoying it. Still really early on though, having just gotten to the first camp fire.

@JohnnyShoulder Wish you best of luck with Horizon Johnny. As I have mentioned in another thread I know a friend who reailly enjoyed that game (think he even ended up end platinumed it).
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. I started it on Christmas Day, but it's been a pretty solid experience so far. It took a little while for it to click with me, but I chalk that up to starting this literally right after I finished God of War Ragnarok. Two very different games obviously, but the palate was cleansed the next day and it clicked from then on. It is interesting to see some of the characters from well before Final Fantasy VII Remake.
