@Khwarezm89 they're all the same walk in fidelity mode, just more marble in the first to reflect more 😛
I love how it adds more depth to everything, where last version would look kind of grey, this has deep blacks and clearly defined shadows and more detail overall.
I swear Hogwarts is getting better looking as I play it. Last night I had to keep stopping and looking at the environment. I was felled by some rolling hills at sunrise: grass actually looking like grass in a video game really threw me 😂

Anyone else playing this game on their pro called the "fan lottery" It involves returning consoles to stores in the hope of finding a relatively quiet console without coil while also. To complete the game you need to find an audio profile comparable to a 4 year old phat launch model (which is silent) Pretty hard game to complete due to Sony's wild variation in manufacturing quality standards and of course their zipped up mouth policy of late. Also you have to navigate the "mines is silent" troll merchants of the internet.
@Jrs1 mine has some fan noise, but on the other hand it does have fans (😅) and an uptick in noise was generally what I expected to cool the new GPU in the higher graphics performance modes as it tries to do something a PC is capable of. So mine is not really that loud, but I'd seek a replacement if it was ridiculously egregious.
It's also hard to tell how much people are overreacting too, and whether "really loud" just means the fan is now noticable when the PS5 one wasn't, and if people have long since forgotten about the ps4 and ps4 pro
Consistency would be good, though.

@Ravix Totally agree although i think its more noticeable coming from a launch ps5 which i have from 4 years ago to the slim model which ive heard has an audible fan. Ive always told myself to avoid launch model consoles due to refinements down the line so to speak but didnt heed my own advice with the pro. Also the internet really isnt the best place for justification on anything really good or bad "if you want the answer you want youll find it" 🤣
@BowTiesAreCool oh, just use the standard PS5 capture which goes to the PS app on my phone automatically, then turn it into a gif with the standard built in media app on that and upload it to imgur which gives you the bbcode to post it to other sites 👍
I love good graphics, 4k and 60fps is a must. Buying my PS5 pro was the best decision that I ever made. Show me a PC that can do good 4k graphics @4k and 60fps for $700 and ill buy it.
@ZeD I’ve been really tempted to bite the bullet on the Pro. Besides the monetary investment, I’m not sure I want to tackle the annoyance of setting it up. 😅 Also, having to buy the disc drive separately (and subsequently installing it, again the set-up obstacle mentioned) is just another hurdle that has kept me thinking “eh, this base PS5 seems to be working great…” Lol
The rumors of rising prices is making me feel pressured toward “going Pro” as well as the forecast that PS6 may be pushed back a year or so. If I knew PS6 wasn’t coming until late 2027 or 2028, then I’d be inclined to upgrade now.
Anyway, here’s hoping you enjoy your new console! Did you trade in your base model or are you rocking two gaming stations now?
@Th3solution
I got a good deal with the disc drive included and I still have my base PS5. I am thinking of letting my son have it in his room (Dad of the year here lol)
I have rocked a top end OLED for a year now, so I was half way there anyway with the hardware and I have watched quite a few videos showing the improvements.
Nice! What games are you going to be playing/testing out first? @ZeD
@Th3solution again, whether you buy may also depend on what you are going to play on it. For me, I got it as I knew KCD2 would benefit (it did) and then Ghost of Yotei later in the year, Death Stranding 2 etc and in to GTA6, Crimson Desert and whathaveyou. I know the Sony exclusives will be stunning on any PS, but I loved what ND did with TLoU, for example, which was an unlocked mode that went up and over 100fps whilst still looking amazing (despite me never continuing on my journey as the game didn't save my progress properly at one point! Leading to this mental block when thinking about playing it where I didn't want to clear out the same damn monsters again, and other games took over since then. The classic Ravix fall-off. Maybe I will revisit it in autumn/winter though) AC Shadows upped frames with all the RT is nice, and I got a FC25 upgrade in responsiveness out of it too, it felt like. But I also played Mafia 1 and 2, which could have been played on a potato 🤷♂️ So if you plan on playing the new releases in 2025/26 then it will
be worth it, if you plan on playing old games, then you will only get the upscaling and slight system-based tweaks.
It also depends how much it matters to you. My main reason was simply future proofing and getting rid of a 4 year old console. But as I have my nerdy gaming set up, plus a more casual lounge set up, I did test out KCD2 on both PS5 and PS5 Pro, similar Oled panels so no real discrepancy there, and I just couldn't get myself to play it on PS5 after testing it, it just lacked something and the frame rate wasn't in the VRR window or something. It was noticably not as good an experience in direct comparison.
So basically what I'm saying is: I didnt think I really cared that much, until I did. I can happily play BG3 on the Ps5 or the Pro, it is basically the same experience. But any game that takes advantage of the features and extra performance... well, it is hard to then justify not using the Pro for those new games as you will notice all the small changes adding up to a noticable difference in quality.
It is kind of weird though, you don't play the Pro constantly thinking 'this is the new age of gaming', but when you go back you realise what is lacking on the base PS5.
Welp… those blasted price hikes did it to me. I impulse bought a PS5 Pro tonight before it cost $50 more tomorrow.
Been thinking about it for several months. As it is, prices ain’t going down anytime soon, so I had to bite.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
One of us. Now it's time to play some retro games, or maybe Balatro to really push it to the max 😁
But, in all seriousness, after BG3 you will have to go for something that utilises some of the features. Unlocked frame rates have been my surprising favourite, as I still have a love/hate relationship with "60fps" games, that look a little funky, to me. 30fps graphics pushed with RT, or unlocked for VRR over 60fps has been my preference in games.
When it seems you're out of luck.
