Well, that's the PS5 Pro paid for! Decided to pay for it in advance so I don't keep changing my mind. I keep forgetting that I can sell my PS5 Slim to get some money back, so at least that'll save me some money. I'm going to save myself some time and just sell it to CEX. It'll be interesting to see how much the price of the Slim will go down when the Pro is released. I can get £299 in cash if I sell it now, but I'm going to wait until my Pro arrives before I sell it because I can't be doing without a PS5!
@Khwarezm89 no problem. That 15% ain't a bad discount at all, especially for games you want to get on release day!
In return, I ask only a small favour...
Let me know how Dragon Age The Veilguard is on PS5 Pro when you get it 😁 the more I read, the more it seems that this will be the first game to really go for it on the new hardware. The game itself I am still unsure of, but the fact they are piling on the upgrades right away is really intriguing. And as I love fantasy as a genre, I am hoping it's a game I will maybe warm to at some point, as I did with Dragons Dogma 2, after being a little worried by the trailers I saw in the year before release, it ended up being a day one game for me 😁
They have said (realised you quoted some of this already, but more details have since come out): not only are they doing the 60fps Pro mode with some minor RT effects and PSSR boosting image quality to match PS5 quality, but they have also confirmed the 30fps mode will have boosted resolution and more visual goodies, which seems like a very good starting place for a third party release to include so many improved options
@Ravix Don't worry I'll talk a lot about the game once I get my hands on it but I'll post in this thread specifically how it looks and performs on the PS5 Pro
Cancelled my Pro pre-order... for now. I hate how indecisive I am about it. Apart of me wants it, but then I just think of all the games I could get with the money instead. I have a feeling that once I'm back at work the Saturday after it's release then I'll end up ordering it from Argos and using same day collection to grab it after work.
@Bentleyma maybe if you're still indecisive just leave it for a while and re-evaluate if you actually need it in a month or so, or around Christmas time. That £699 could be better used elsewhere if you're still happy with the slim ps5 and new monitor.
When it seems you're out of luck.

@Bentleyma I've warmed up to idea of it, but still think it is not for me. I've not come across any games that have suffered with any drastic performance issues that makes me want to spurge 700 quid on another console.
Plus I've not long ago bought new face plates for my ps5, and quite like the look of an all black console under my TV! 😂
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@Bentleyma If you can afford it, why not? You should value your time more than your money
PS5 Pro will give you more bang for your buck: every minute spent playing on a PS5 Pro is like 2 minutes spent playing a normal PS5 (in terms of enjoyment gained per minute)((it probably doesn´t have that great of an effect, but it´s probably still gonna offer a much better experience))
@Bentleyma I know what you mean but to me it was easy decision to make tbh. But if there are other priorities you have then take your time to decide when should you get the PS5 pro.
I know what I'm like and I'm almost certain that when it's released I'll go out and grab one. I do like the idea of owning the best PlayStation I can own and money isn't the issue. Plus I can sell my PS5 for a tidy sum, so that makes the £700 pricetag more justifiable.
@Bentleyma That's how I thought about it. I pre-ordered it on PS Direct then I cancelled it and pre-ordered it through GameStop here in Germany as they've the Trade-In option so it made paying for the pro more justifiable.
Hello, everyone! Have you thought about switching to a PC? I mean, with such a price... isn't it more advantageous to build your own PC and enjoy unrestricted FPS?
@x-XMusashiX-x unrestricted frame rates at 700 pounds, is it? 👀 I bet Minecraft would run like a dream.
And yes, I have thought about it, many times, but £3500+ for what I'd actually want out of the machine just to play a few badly optimised multiplatform games and have no access to my massive library of PS games seems a little silly, even for me 😁
I do want to do it at some point, but I know I'll still regret all the hassle, whilst also wondering where the value really is for me in starting to build a library from scratch on a system I'm not familiar with maybe only 3 or 4 new games a year I'd actually want
When it seems you're out of luck.

Funny how PC and Xbox fans come on here trying to tempt PlayStation gamers over to their preferred platforms. You’d never catch me ‘crossing enemy lines’ (I jest… I jest) trying to procure business for my brand/platform of choice. We seem to see a fair few unpaid and unofficial sales reps, makes me wonder if they see the same from team blue on their side of the divide 🤔
Honestly, I'm not here to sell PCs! I'm just wondering, since the console at this price isn't far from a 4080S, which has much higher power! But what convinced me to pre-order the console was its plug-and-play aspect and no worries about crashes, etc. I was just asking out of genuine curiosity!
@x-XMusashiX-x well if that’s the case… I haven’t ordered one yet myself but I am tempted tbh. Reasons being:
While it’s more expensive than I’d like, it’s proving to have a very positive price-to-performance ratio as per the reports from various tech analysis outlets.
The price of a PC for which you’d see any real noticeable difference in performance would be more like £1500 (those articles where people were building rinkindink PC’s with second hand parts and components not equitable to those of a ps5 pro were served with a more than generous amount of cap).
I have over 1300 games on the PlayStation platform, over 1000 of which I’m still yet to play… so I’d have to start buying a new collection.
Diminishing returns when upgrading consoles or graphics cards - while the difference between 30fps and 60 fps is a very noticeable improvement, the further you go with frames (or resolution for that matter) becomes less and less perceptible. People already be moaning about not being able to see much of a difference (with their naked-eye) between ps5 and ps5 Pro. The difference between a ps5 pro and £1500 PC will be similarly small in relative terms.
Plug-and-play - I do enough PC trouble-shooting at work… I’d rather not have any of my gaming time taken up by this.
Reports suggest that the ps5 pro will extend this current generation to 10 years (rather than the usual 7), which would mean 6 years of use before the ps6. Nvidia release a new range of cards which are considerably more expensive than a ps5 pro at a far higher rate, leaving buyers of the previous range feeling fomo around 12 months after their last outlay.
I also work in the IT world, and when I get home, I want to do something other than work. Thanks for your points about PCs! I admit I've just hit 100 platinum trophies without really aiming for them, so I have quite a few games on PlayStation too. I didn't really consider the potential price increase of future Nvidia graphics cards or even the cost of electricity consumption for such equipment. Thanks for your thoughtful feedback! Can't wait for November 7th!
@JohnnyShoulder as I said, you’d never catch me trying to procure business for Sony but… if someone is asking a genuine question I’ll provide my perspective.
The moment you catch me starting an Official PlayStation Thread on Pure Xbox extolling the virtues of PS+ pull the ****ing cord right quick 😉
