I just can't get excited for ME type games. It's the same with Soulslike, if it isn't from From I just find them dull even Lies of P deleted it after 4 to 5 hours. With the next ME I wouldn't be too freaked if the Veilguard team were heavily involved as despite the slatings I actually enjoyed the game. Sure it wasn't the second coming and some needless box ticking felt forced upon the player but it was well above average regardless.
@THEBrew Oof, I hope not. While I don't have high hopes for the next ME from BioWare, I'd prefer it if they'd at least try to cater to the fans of the series instead of alienating them in the hopes of drawing in a new crowd.
@BearsEatBeets They've been releasing gameplay drops quite regularly and have always said they were a build-up to today's "big" release, which aired with the Future Games Show summer showcase earlier today. I watched the gameplay for a few minutes, then turned it off. It has been a while since I reached the point of "MUST HAVE NOW", so no real need for me to explore this any further until the game is firmly in my hands
The same can pretty much be said about Owlcat's "Expanse" game, also heavily mentioned in this thread, though I wouldn't mind a similar gameplay walkthrough for that one.
@FuriousMachine I didn't know about this Future Games Show, that one must have passed me by. I'm strangely yet to get excited about this one. I watched the video and despite the pedigree of people working on it and it's clear Mass Effect roots it's just not grabbing me. Still, there is plenty of time for that to change.
@BearsEatBeets Yeah, that's fair. For me, it looks to tick all the boxes I look for in a game like this and I love the universe they've built (that Peter F. Hamilton novel is excellent - can't wait for the sequel coming in a week's time). The only thing I'm lukewarm about is the look of the protagonist, but knowing I can change that and will most likely go with the female version anyway, that doesn't really matter all that much.
@BearsEatBeets between this and the new Expanse game (and the new Mass Effect game… whenever that eventually happens) it’s good to know people will get something to fill that almost decade-long ME void that we’ve had.
I’m currently playing through ME3 atm coincidentally and really excited to see how the trilogy actually concludes, having only every played through 1 and 2 back in the day. I’m enjoying the build up to the final confrontation by accruing war assets throughout the galactic sector. And frikkin EDI in a robot body is… well… something!. As soon as I met her I had to take a minute to pop over to Liara to cool things off with her 😅.
@FuriousMachine Yes, there is definitely something about the faces that seem weird to me. I think it's mostly the eyes/cheekbones areas but a few of them just don't feel right to me. From the gameplay shown in that video I think the personality of the companions didn't impress me either, one of them reminded me of PeeBee quite a lot. Coming across very excitable and nervous.
It's only one small sample though and I don't want to be too harsh without seeing more. I'm still keeping a keen eye on it wanting it to be good.
@psmr Without giving away too much I hope you haven't burnt your bridges with Liara😄. The main bulk of ME3 concluding the fates of whole species/civilizations and building those assets is the peak of the saga for me (along with the best combat). I'll keep an eye out for your opinions on the ending. I'm sure you're aware of the discourse around it even without playing it.
I can't seem to find a Star Trek based thread (that's open) so it's sci-fi based I'll plonk it here for now.
It's Blooper team again! How many games are they churning out, it's crazy. Although they seem to be synonymous with horror I'm guessing this would be much tamer as it's Star Trek.
