I would say rest mode isn't necessary for anyone who plays mostly offline/SP games anyway . Rest mode is really for people who play online often and put their systems on stand-by incase of any hard-drive-eating update the size of 3 PS3 games combined. I use rest mode because of the convenience nonetheless . its really convenient .
Still have ptsd from November 2020 when I thought I bricked my console after putting it in rest mode it is a lot better now but I’m not gonna touch it until Sony says it is completely fixed
I always leave my consoles in rest mode. It's a bit like the TV. I see no reason to switch it off completely and my controller gets fully charged.
I usually like closing the game before though unless I really need to go and there s no check point available. Maybe an old habit or I just like launching a game and closing it for the heck of it. Its best for updates too.
