@johncalmc Is it like it's giving you no resistance at all? If that's it it's most likely a snapped spring - apparently easy to replace if you have the right part (it's the same as in a DS4). Looks like one of these
I'm not necessarily encouraging trying to do it yourself with a controller under warranty though - I probably wouldn't myself either. I would if it was past the warranty period.
@Voltan Hmm. See now I love the idea of tinkering around in there like some kind of workman with my little screwdriver and that. And honestly I don't want to wait two weeks. Maybe I'll just try and fix it myself, and then when I break it I'll just order one of the red ones they just brought out.
@Voltan@johncalmc The spring on my L1 got stuck so I had to open it up and unstick it. It’s not too difficult to fiddle with the insides of the controller as long as you have one of those plastic thingys that look like they separate Lego. It’s horrific to put back together though, mine is slightly separate at the seam. I also have a bit of left stick drift that comes and goes.
Welp I was always the one to say I never had problems with any of my Sony controllers (and there's been a bunch of them since the PS2) but I think one of mine just started drifting to the left a little. Weirdly, it doesn't seem to happen if I'm not touching the stick but touching the stick triggers it sometimes somehow?
Hopefully it's just some dust that got in there or something and it will go away? I'll keep an eye on it and maybe try cleaning it somehow. If it persists or even get worse, I'll have to see about a warranty claim, I guess.
A bad day for DualSense controllers, it seems
@Voltan Mine also drifts to the left. I was driving in Mafia 2 when I noticed it the most, as I legitimately swerved into oncoming traffic when I went to scratch my nose and took my thumb off the stick. Didn’t help when Joe was like YOU DRIVE WORSE THAN MY GRANDMA
@Voltan Maybe every few days? I usually rotate the stick vigorously and it’ll eventually go away after a bit of effort. I feel like it’ll probably get more apparent over the weeks though.
The drift on mine was really noticeable in Demon's Souls where if you ran in a straight line the character would start to flicker and then all of a sudden dart left. It led to a few deaths, well that's my excuse anyway. I tried all the suggestions I could find online including rotating the stick etc and none of them worked.
Sony replaced without any bother though, I just went through the online hardware troubleshooting guide and got a code and a phone number. The phone lines were only open 10:30am - 7pm, Monday to Friday which they don't tell you on that page, or on the recorded message you get when you phone the number.
@render That's good to hear. I'll probably have to get mine replaced as well (if it doesn't somehow go away completely by itself). I have another one and that one's fine. I'll probably be able to live with just one for a week or however long it takes. Hopefully the support experience is mostly straightforward here in Poland as well (I never had to try before).
@render So I went to the hardware support page out of curiosity and chose DualSense -> not using it for the first time -> a problem with analog sticks or buttons -> analog sticks.
And now my only options are "an analog stick got stuck" or "an analog stick is unresponsive" (it's in Polish so these are rough translations, might be different on the English site)...
edit: the "stuck" option gives me a phone number, I'll probably call them on Friday
Ugh, I hate phone calls
@Voltan That's exactly the same flow as on the English site and I selected the same option as like you say there wasn't one to describe stick drift. I did say to the person on the phone when I gave them the code that there wasn't an actual stick drift option but they didn't seem to be that bothered.
I can't believe that they don't have an online chat option for this sort of thing as surely it means they could get through more calls rather than tying someone up on a single case. Good luck on getting it sorted though
Started Horizon Zero Dawn today. I had started earlier this year, but decided to play other stuff ahead of it (such as god of war) and just hoped for a 60fps patch, which has worked out well and finishing Iki Island DLC!
Runs so much better now, I was already enjoying the game at the time at 30fps. Looking forward to this one as I remember being intrigued by the Horizon world!
@Voltan Perhaps you are lucky and yours might just be some dust or something that's worked it's way back out again. I left mine for a good few weeks before deciding to phone Sony as it just hadn't got any better in that time and seemed to be getting worse.
@NedStarksGhost I thought Horizon looked great anyway but the 60fps patch just makes it so much smoother. Can't wait for Forbidden West.
@render well, @nessisonett says his drift comes and goes somehow, so maybe this is a similar case. I’ll have to keep an eye on it. Right now it seems like it fixed itself but it’s probably too early to be sure
On a different note - I wonder what the deal is with Forbidden West pre-orders. They've been very active in posting the exact time they go live, with different timezones and all - way more than I've seen for any other game.
Guess we'll find out in a few.
@Voltan Fingers crossed that yours is ok from now on then!!
You are right about Horizon, they almost seem to have made pre-ordering into an event in itself. Guess we don't know if there are any pre-order bonuses yet?
