How do you guys feel about the Onimusha series and how Way of the Sword is looking? Did you enjoy the demo? I think it is quite amazing to see a new Onimusha game after a twenty-year absence. I think it fits right into the PS5 climate too, especially when you consider the rise of samurai games over the past several years.
I'm pumped to play it, Musashi has the likeness if Toshiro Mifune who played him in the Samurai Trilogy in the 50's. I'll be playing in Japanese though as the English dub is dreadful.
I will be honest, the demo disappointed me, it was just way too easy and I wasn't going to buy the game..... BUT with the roll Capcom have been on, I trust them enough they will stick the landing with the final product so I have it on preorder.
The only Onimusha I really got into was 3, the one with Jean Reno, and it was awesome. I love survival horror and have a real fondness for tank controls. It felt very fresh at the time. Beyond that, I’ve never given the series much of a chance.
Despite being open to it, the demo didn’t move the needle for me to a day one buy. I think it has a lot of potential but there’s too much coming out around the same time that I’m more excited about, including Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. I’ll be keeping an eye on its reception and will almost certainly be playing it down the line. Hope it’s great!

I reviewed Onimusha: Way of the Sword for another site and gave it a 9/10, just like Push Square. The combat system really is brilliant and there's plenty of depth within it.
@Oram77 Yeah that is weird, but maybe they wanted players to get to grips with the mechanics before playing on hard mode. Could be reasons pertaining to accessibility, though many would want a stern challenge right out of the gate.
@Oram77 never had any doubts, even if some view Onimusha as B-lister series, it is always number one in my heart.

Ok early impressions, the game is fun to play, which is the most important thing, it's also running really well on my pro (had no fear, ever since RE9 and Pragmata tbh), my only gripe is once again all the enemies just stand around and take turns (just like it the demo) but who knows maybe it will pick up later on.
@Oram77 hopefully it’s not an issue in the late game!
