@Werehog My pleasure, I always find the chat is a good laugh. Perhaps more negative voices than there used to be, but maybe I've just got a selective memory lol
It's just some games at the end of the day, some will like them, some won't. I'm not sure how people can get bent out of shape over it, but who knows what other stuff they've got on their plate in life? If that's how they vent, then best to just leave them to it.
In terms of the actual games, I'm looking forward to seeing more of the new Stuntman, the dino one looks good and against my better judgement, I've got to say I'm intrigued by Ill, purely because of how messed-up it looks.
Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.
@Werehog Lol, it was the most blood soaked SoP we’ve ever seen, wasn’t it? 😂
They really went all-in for the blood and brutality with Wolverine. I know all the preview information we had received mentioned it would be gorey and M-rated, but the SoP gameplay trailer was even more than I expected. I’m not necessarily opposed to some brutality, blood, and gore but it did seem a shade over-the-top. ‘Gratuitous’ may be the word I’m looking for. Like, the enemy is clearly dead, spurting copious amounts of blood on the pavement, but Wolverine just keeps stabbing him 20 more times, then makes triple sure he’s dead by impaling his skull and then decapitating him before leaping for the next victim 😅. There’s gotta be more efficient ways to take down a crowd. 😜 I suspect many people will be glad to have the escalated violence, but it didn’t resonate with me and I found myself less interested in the game overall. I’m still withholding final judgment though. I agree that it has some definite Spider-Man elements in it, the way Wolverine leaps long distances so quickly and pounces around. It actually made me more excited to see what’s cooking for Spider-Man 3.
Well, I know the thread has just been wondering why the negativity, and here I go criticizing the centerpiece game presentation, but I’m not questioning the quality of the game, as it looks phenomenal and is obviously of high quality and fits a particular demand in the market. And I might still be there day 1, we’ll see.
Highlights for me were GoW Laufey (really like that one), Control Resonant, and of course Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, which looked quite fantastic. I’m a little disappointed that it’s been pushed into early 2017, despite already taking pre-orders. Seems a far way off. What did you think of this new iteration of Lara’s introductory adventure?

@Th3solution I think, maybe, just maybe, Wolverine has a few deep-rooted issues with his anger management for whatever reason. I've even heard him called 'animalistic' at times 😄

It did kind of make a mess of his custom, handstitched, yellow pyjamas, though. So i'd like to see his dry cleaning bill!
Woah, Summer Game Fest is this Friday. And Xbox Showcase on Sunday, too. There's going to be so many great games to ogle at. And 100% some people still won't be happy after all of that. How many more September releases do we think we will see announced? 😱
@Ravix Lol, yeah I actually acknowledged that when I commented on these observations over on the front page article — that is that I can see the Mortal Kombat type of excessive violence as a narrative element due to his anger control issues. I only know Wolverine from the movies (haven’t read the comics) and he does often get a little over-aggressive and angry, so perhaps thrashing a dead corpse repeated and then butchering it like a lunatic is consistent with the character. 😅

@Oram77 Don't waste your time and headspace on comments like that. Not worth it.
@Werehog I wanna echo what GVG (@GirlVersusGame it's ok I call you that, right?) said: thanks for being a beacon of positivity. Much needed in the online space.
That being said I am going to call this State of Play pretty disappointing. Sure, the games looks nice, but the State of Play lacked actual news. Two decent remakes, a new Stuntman and Faye. The latter admittedly looks very good, but that's kind of it with regards to actual new things. February's State of Play was so much more impressive. I guess I kind of hoped for something on that level.
@Herculean Friends call me kat but whichever you prefer really I don't mind. I thought State of Play was next month, someone told me a couple of hours before it went live, I wasn't expecting them to go straight to Wolverine. I definitely wasn't expecting Stuntman either, when I saw Saber and a road I thought it was DLC for Roadcraft or maybe even a new Snowrunner game. It gives me hope that we might one day see a new Burnout game, it's that same energy. I was reading the original Stuntman manual earlier today and hadn't realized Vic Armstrong was involved. He was the lead stuntman/coordinator for so many James Bond and Indiana Jones movies. I read his book a while back too, it was a really good read. I'm not sure what to think of God of War, it's like walking into a movie in another language and it's already been playing for an hour. I'd like that new one to be my first in the series but people said to play the others first.
I'm usually more excited for the smaller games and the Indies, it's a different State of Play in that I would try most of those bigger titles. Though I'm curious about that Runescape Plus+ game now too, it would be great seeing the Older Stuntman games showing up on Premium. I'll probably play through the original PS2 ones again, maybe Teardown too. I haven't seen many people mention that game, it's really niche but really satisfying.
These are mentioned in the manual too as DVD extras.
These violent delights have violent ends & in their triumph die, like fire & powder Which, as they kiss, consume.
Watched all the trailers, and liked most of what I saw tbf. Wolverine was the stand out for, it just releases at a bad time for me, a couple of weeks before Control Resonant and then GTA 6 in November.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
