Why make the DLC easier. Sony is happy with the sales they make, with me buying new dual sense controllers every month after they’ve hit the living room wall😂😂😂

I really enjoyed my time with Erdtree, and felt that the difficulty was fairly well managed/balanced for the most part. Post-patch, which buffed the initial 1-10 Scadutree levels, was a necessity I felt... and ultimately lead to a far more enjoyable experience. (I still had a few 'roadblock' bosses, Messmir etc, but nothing every felt 'unbeatable')
The final boss however is just another level of absolute BS. I am fine with difficulty, but it feels like this boss was designed to only be beaten by the 1% absolute elite playerbase... the kind of demographic that are able to play this game like it pays their bills! The second phase is absolutely absurd.
I was Scadutree blessing +18 and Spirt Ash +7 when I got to him, and was just getting caned. Had a solid build that had carried me through base and DLC (power stance Bloodhound fang, emphasis on jump attacks and buffs etc).
In the end I had to resort to summoning in other players to help, something I'd actually not done in the game before (usually I would summon my Mimic Tear instead). I actually had a blast playing online, albeit took about 11-12 tries. I held my own on the final successful run, but it was still insanely hard.
Have you tried summoning in other players to help? I found that the biggest difference is that other players actually split the aggro 50/50... whereas my Mimic Tear probably drew about 5% of the bosses attention!!
@LN78 I feel your pain mate, genuinely at level 18 I was still getting wrecked. I had 70 vigor as well, using the Dragon Greatshield and various resistance +3 talismans (Holy etc)
Had I not had the ability to summon another player, I think I genuinely would have given up. I've beaten plenty of 'hard bosses' in my time - Nameless Puppet (Lies of P) / Eviterno (Blasphemous 2) / Ishinn (Sekiro)..... but the DLC final boss is just absurd.
Did you switch 'online play' on from start screen? I kept forgetting to do that, which stopped the ability to use the finger and summon
@LN78@CJD87 On a related note, I read an article recently wherein they said that FromSoft have reached a 'threshold' of difficulty with the SOTE dlc, they said that apparently, according to market research, most people believe that future games can't exceed that level of difficulty and the company needs to go in a different direction, like they did w/ Sekiro and Bloodborne previously and try something new, rather than just increasing the difficulty w/ each game because after, like you two said, bosses like that final dlc boss they really can go no further.

Personally, Sekiro is my favorite From game (by a mile) and I'd love to see them branch off again slightly in a direction that still leans into traditional Souls-elements but with some twists (like Sekiro).
I definitely stand by the final boss in SotE being absolute BS though.... but no doubt that somewhere on the internet will be a 10-year old blindfolded Japanese girl who is playing on a dancepad and managed to beat him lol
@LN78 Ah mate.... normally I'd send words of encouragement, along the lines of "keep at it, you'll get him eventually!"
But in this case, I honestly don't know how any mere mortal can beat this guy without resorting to cheese tactics and/or summoning.
Maybe the hardest boss I had recently was Eviterno in Blasphemous 2... but even then, I always felt a belief that 'eventually I'll get there'. But not with SotE final boss. Had I not summoned help, I don't think I'd ever have got him.
Actually, he is extremely easy with Bloody Helice + Fingerprint Stone Shield at 80 Arcane. I had to respec before him to avoid headache and at +18 fragments and +8 Spirit Ash Mimic I destroyed him with bleed!

This article had a weird sense of repetition/filler to it, like how it kept bringing up broken “hit boxes” even though it wasn’t necessarily reinforcing or conveying the points better. But even with that aside, I think complaining about broken hitboxes and large health bars in a souls game feels like yelling at the sun. I can’t verify how hard these bosses are but from the outset, this still feels like loud minorities yelling online, this doesn’t appear to be a big enough to warrant so much complaining instead of manning up and fighting the bosses or just quietly move on to another game. But who knows maybe it’s really that bad. shrugs
Also bringing up dark souls 2 is completely moot in this argument because bringing up evidence of a broken thing in another game does not, at all, equate to it existing in the game you’re arguing for so that last paragraph felt like filler. Correlation does not equal causation. Saying “elden ring DLC is broken because dark souls 2 was broken” is just faulty logic that doesn’t connect and hurts your foundation, and derails the debate as well. Let DS2 rest.
@Yousef- A couple of the bosses in the "Elden Ring" DLC - Gaius and Consort Radahn (and a friend of mine also complained about the giant hippopotamus ) have hit boxes egregious even for a FromSoft game - I speak from VERY recent experience. I don't think there's any excuse for moves/combos that are for all intents and purposes unavoidable.
That’s interesting, thanks for verifying!

@AgentCooper
Ooh enjoy, 'tis a great game.
My advice is to not get hit, Classic advice. Also if a boss/area is too tough then go somewhere else and come back when you are stronger. From loves to troll people, hmm teach people that running away is sometimes the best solution.
@AgentCooper excited for you dude, a modern great that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. The only advice I’d give is to maybe do a bit of research on builds before you start, so you can begin crafting your character straight off the bat.
I just went straight UGS (or Colossal Swords as theyre referred to in Elden Ring) as I always do, when I played it but remember seeing a load of stuff about the Rivers of Blood build that supposedly cut through bosses like a hot knife through butter. I know that you’re still relatively new to souls-likes, so it might be worth your while maximising your potential to get the most from it.
@AgentCooper Upgrade your Vigor (health) and Endurance (stamina) which will help you early doors.
Equip talismans that boost your leveled up stats, as there is not much point in boosting say Intelligence if you don't use any weapons that need it.
Once you have a weapon you find useful, concentrate on upgrading the stats that scale with it. For instance, most Katanas (which Rivers of Blood is one them but you probably won't get that till later on) scale best with Dexterity, so when you level that up your damage for those weapons will increase the most.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@AgentCooper I would’nt go Colossal Sword mate, although it’s my preference I wouldn’t consider any builds around the weapon type particularly strong. The Rivers of Blood build is a build that you can complete pretty far into the game but if you know the stat requirements going in, you can have everything in -lace by the time you have access to the weapon.
A bleed build is a solid choice, it is what got me through most of the game.
There are also buffs which you can craft, but you will need recipes from cookbooks found around the world. It is something I've only really delved into playing the DLC.

Its a great game, and honestly it can also be pretty forgiving in terms of difficulty (especially vs other games in the genre).
My #1 tip would be this - early game, focus initially on placing your early level-up stats into - - > Vigor (aka health bar). Perhaps even get your Vigor to level ~30 before you start increasing any damage stats and/or endurance.
Early game can be fairly brutal, and survivability is maybe the greatest currency in those beginning areas. In terms of damage output, weapon upgrades will do you well (whilst you invest level-up stats in health). Then once vigor is high enough, you can invest in your chosen damage/magic stat as well as endurance
EDIT - For reference, most players look to finish the game at around ~60 vigor. Unless you're an Elden Ring God player (for reference, I am certainly not this!) then 60 vigor is pretty decent, allows you to take a few hits before being wiped out. Also, assuming you'll get to the DLC... 60 vigor IMO would be the minimum to go in with, as most enemies can 1-2 shot you (prior to collecting the Scadutree upgrade items)
