@Draco_V_Ecliptic Eh? None of that mentions Bluepoint working With From Software?

@Draco_V_Ecliptic I’m still a bit skeptical to be honest. Shadow of the Colossus doesn’t exactly focus on gameplay so that aspect would have been relatively easy to do but every other remaster they’ve done hasn’t touched the gameplay at all. I really hope they nail that aspect because it’s just as important as the graphics, if not more so.

@nessisonett On the Uncharted Trilogy they tweaked the shooting mechanics and the controls in Shadow of the Colossus. Bluepoint have also said this is the biggest project they have worked on, so who knows at this point. Reading from people that played the original, the gameplay would not need that much work on anyway it would just need a few QOL improvements.

@JohnnyShoulder Yeah but it's their original product, and they must have entrusted it to Bluepoint to work on.

The best part is that I never had a PS3 so this is a brand new game to me! 🍾

Praise the Sun, and Mario too.

@Draco_V_Ecliptic Sony own the IP, it was up to them who would be behind the remake, From Software had no say in the matter. It would be the same if Bloodborne were to be remastered or if a sequel made.

@andreoni79 Same here! Really can't wait for this now after all this time being rumoured.

Good vid with a brief history of the game and some analysis (& speculation) of the trailer.

@JohnnyShoulder Oh ok, I understand, thanks for clearing that up. Do From Software own Elden Ring's IP, though?

@Draco_V_Ecliptic I'm not too sure, the game is not even out yet and not much is known about it. I would have to Google it like most other people...

I played ds remastered having played ds3 and bloodborne first and to be honest (I know this is heresy) but none of the bosses I have encountered up to sens fortress after ringing both bells have been anywhere near the design of later fromsoft games. The multiphase heart racing affairs from those later games seem absent thus far (though I'm aware I've got some cool bosses to go). I think tweaks to gameplay and boss behaviour will be needed for this and hope bluepoint are allowed to have some agency to update this, if they feel the game needs it.

@R1spam You’re still in the early early game so personally I wouldn’t make too many judgements since I consider Sen’s Fortress the end of the ‘tutorial’ and when things start getting a whole lot harder. I do think Quelaag’s a great boss though, definitely a standout from that part of the game. Dark Souls 3 had a great first boss, probably the best in the series, and Bloodborne had Gascoigne who’s also great despite the later bosses definitely dragging. Dark Souls 1 is a lot slower and more methodical so the bosses are designed accordingly. You still haven’t made it to a certain twosome, they’re maybe the best boss encounter in the whole series.

A more in depth look at Demon Souls and the remake.

If you are a fan of the soulsborne games, you really need to subscribe to this guy. He does a very good job at explaining stuff in a way that makes sense and does not come across as condescending. Also has one of the most relaxing voices out there.

@nessisonett yeah have such great memories of father gascoigne and bloodstarved beast! I actually beat the cleric beast first time and thought I was a souls legend, then father g taught me otherwise!! Maybe DS remastered just fell too familiar too me after 3, have taken a long break but will have to try again after the last of us 2.

@JohnnyShoulder https://screenrant.com/elden-ring-release-date-demons-souls-r... "From the looks of things, FromSoftware is taking a hands-off approach to the Demon's Souls Remake, trusting Bluepoint Games to do their IP justice while they focus on completing Elden Ring." Did Sony acquire the IP from FromSoftware then? Or do FromSoftware own it?

@Draco_V_Ecliptic It wasn't From's to acquire off in the first place I believe. It is a bit complicated as it was published in Japan by Sony, in Europe (and other PAL regions) by Bandai Namco, and in America by Atlus.

I'm not sure whether it was because how much time passed the IP went back to Sony (as they originally published it) or they bought the rights from BN and Atlus, but the IP is Sony's.

IP can be a tricky as it is not always with the developer or publisher, it all depends what is agreed when the contract is signed. And that info is not always readily available.

I dunno if it's been said already but I'm assuming the "fractured mode" detail that the official trailer had is possibly a remixed version with different enemy placements?

I mean it could be the sixth archstone stuff (I'd honestly assume it'd be in from the get go rather then in a different mode if they are adding that stuff)... But I wouldn't get your hopes up on them doing that just in case it isn't!

I've not seen anything confirming what exactly it is @Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy, so we can only speculate at the mo. I've seen that it could be anything from being able to play in with the original graphics to some kind of harder difficulty mode, or just the way they are phrasing the graphical options available, or the True Death mode that was supposed to be in the original game but was cut.

Untitled

The way it is being described doesn't sound like a new mode or anything like that, but I wouldn't rule it out at this stage.

Vaati mentions the archway in his vid. Was that some kind of area that was cut from the original game?

Yeah in the nexus there's the archstones where you travel to the different locations of Boletaria Castle, The Stone Fang mine, The Tower Of Latria, The Storm lands (Or something like that) and the Valley Of Defilement.

But there is a sixth archstone there that's crumbled and naturally you can't access it which is said to have lead to the Northen lands of the giants.

Not sure on the specifics @JohnnyShoulder but I know people have looked at the files and found bits and bobs from there like a few cut enemies and the starting area (Possibly more) for it. So it got cut somewhere down the line probably due to budget most likely.

It's a snowy area and it's why a few people have been getting a bit nuts at the snowy bit in the remake's opening (Despite the fact it's sorta there in the original opening too)

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy That would be awesome if they restored the cut content. I'm really hoping they do, I gave up on DS2 SOTFS by the way - I just found it to be an unenjoyable experience. I have gone back to DSR which I think is much better, probably the best game in the series, especially for what I want to do in the game, which is a build of Guts, the Branded Swordsman from the manga 'Berserk'. I think DSR and DS3 are the best games in the series. Loved Bloodborne as well.
