Anyone a big fan of anti gravity racers at all?
I used to love games like Wipeout back in the day. The HD collection and Fury are great games too.
I then tried my luck on the first Redout. I was hooked! The sense of speed from that game was insane. I felt it made Wipeout look like it was a crawling simulator it was so quick.
Redout 2 came along and it was fun but i think it failed to hit some of the heights of the first game.
Theres games like FastRMX on the switch which are pretty good!
I had to emulate F-Zero on the N64 which again captures that speed and chaos very well!
Even Grip has some great moments of speed and racing on the ceiling craziness.
I do feel there should be some more out there. Would love to see a return of F-Zero.
Redout 3 would be appreciated, Wipeout sequel well overdue. Wish the new FastRMX on switch 2 would come to PS cause I aint paying £400 for a switch 2

I doubt there will be another Wipeout as Sony unfortunately shut down Studio Liverpool (ex Psygnosis) in 2012.

I would love to see a revival of the series as it's my favourite non Gran Turismo racing game.

Redout 2 has a PHENOMENAL soundtrack and I enjoy it mainly for that. It's hard for me to get good at it because I've played Wipeout for so many years and it's just not got quite the same controls. A little bit too Fortnite ADHD fast paced epilepsy for me...

I'm still holding out hope they do a TV series about the original Wipeout story: the technology, the development of the racing league, AG-Sys and their founder and his ethics about the sport, the politics between the teams, the key pilots, we have the technology to put it on screen now. And that could bode well for a revival of the franchise with a new game release.

I just wonder if the audience is big enough - I know about Wipeout but how famous is it? I can't tell.

I never got into F-Zero as much but that's a classic. Wasn't it the first zero gravity racer?

Yeah. Sony are sitting on a golden goose with the wipeout series but not doing anything. Big shame really.

Redout 1 & 2 have both incredible OST's.
The DLC pack for redout 1 did some right tunes.
If you are struggling with the redout games I recommend you try changing some of the buttons around. You can literally play it like a wipeout with the airbrakes being on the triggers and pitch of the ship being routed to the left analogue stick. Thats the way I play it.

I love that wipeout idea. Would definitely watch it. It was iconic back in the 90s.

I think the nostalgia may out weigh the demand so it's a risk for sure but these don't have to be big AAA titles either so there is that too.

Fzero has the music going for it too. Sometimes play the N64 one on the emulator. It holds up mostly well apart from the low poly models but still plays 60fps and fast. You should check it out

Star Wars: Galactic Racer looks like it'll be very good.

@Kairuuu Definitely! Its on my "Wishlist".
Love me some Star Wars and pod racing so its a double win. Just hope they dont go with a cheesy "Ubisoft" style story in a racing game.
Fingers crossed this one turns out good. I'll be keeping an eye on the reviews for it

@Mes_Urson @Kairuuu Chalk up another forum user who's interested in Star Wars: Galactic Racer. I have it pre-ordered and will most definitely be sharing thoughts as and when!

@Werehog Is it being made by the old Burnout team or something? People keep saying its like Wipeout and Burnout had a baby and this is the end result?
I loved Burnout 3 takedown back in the day. Excellent game. Definitely looking forward to it

@Mes_Urson I think it's a new studio formed by developers who used to work on both Burnout and Need for Speed so yeah, there's definitely gonna be some of that old DNA in there. From what I understand, when the Burnout series came to an end, some subsequent Need for Speed games filled the gap and incorporated very similar takedown mechanics. Applying them to podracing / riot racing from the Star Wars galaxy is a perfect fit, considering how underhanded and violent those sports can get.

@Werehog Hopefully that means were in good hands with the game. Always wanted Burnout to make a return but seems it never will. It'd probably be ruined or microtransactioned to hell these days.
Might just have to break the PS2 out just to go through some nostalgia

only f-zero is worth a damn and nintendo refuses to cook with it anymore. ok i’ll be honest - i never played wipeout, but redout was too simulator like or realism like.

@nomither6 Redout was too realistic?! What is your life?

Bro living in the year 3000.
Wipeout is very much worth your time.
However I can't agree that Redout is a simulator or simulator-ish of any kind. I don't think any of us can say what it's like to race 1000mph near black holes! Hahaha!
F-Zero is screaming for a revival though. That I agree with
