@Ralizah Yup. We’ll have to see. So long as we get to have Vincent in our party. He was my favorite character both artistically and in combat.

@Ralizah Cloud, Machete (the movie character), and Zack via time travel vs Sephiroth in a return to space? They never did do the movie Machete Kills in Space. Or, if you're into wrestling, Cloud vs. Sephiroth in an Aerith on a pole match?

@Th3solution I do agree that the story went a little....doolally (for want of a better word) towards the end but overall I definitely preferred the Remake to the Original. The characters where alot more fleshed out, Cloud actually felt like a Human being with feelings and emotions and I much preferred seeing this version of him. Obviously cut scenes and stuff help massively with this and animation and graphics have improved 6 fold since the original came out but I felt they got the world building down to a T as well. Loved the original btw it was alway 7 and 9 that where my jam but something about the Remake just really sat well with me.

@MaulTsir Yeah, I think your feelings are similar to mine and Ral’s — the game is quite excellent up until the final moments. And the strange left turn that the story takes at the end might be okay if they have a good plan, but it makes me worried.

I felt that in addition to Cloud, Aerith really benefited from voice acting and added character development through 3D modeling. I never really connected with Aerith in the original quite like I did in the remake. Tifa seemed a little more human as well, but wasn’t quite as drastically improved over her PS1 version as Aerith, imo. Barrett I thought was about the same as his original version, except for the added fatherly tenderness we got to see in the remake. But his animated rants about environmental stewardship of the earth came across like I remember from his pixelated version 😅

Finally finished One Piece Odyssey, about two weeks ago. I've been playing Guardians of the Galaxy. It's fun! I'm still getting used to the combat...the gun play with Star Lord is kind of "helter-skelter"(sp?) sometimes. I'm having a good time though.

I’m currently playing Wolfenstein: The New Order. I played it once before at launch, and loved it. I started again yesterday and played 70% of it in one sitting. I’d hoped to get it finished off today, but I haven’t had the time in the end.

It’s really, really good. Up there with my favourite first person shooters, which would be Half-Life 1 & 2, MOH Frontline and Red Faction 1 & 2. It’s just so good.

I am going to give The New Colossus a fairer shake once I am done with this. I didn’t like it much, and didn’t finish it when it came out. I don’t remember much of it either.

I should probably finish The Old Blood, too. That was ok, but lacking story.

And if anyone is wondering why I was in the mood to play Wolfenstein, I spent the Sunday before last watching 10 hours back to back of “Hitlers Circle of Evil” on Netflix and had to vent

@kyleforrester87 I've just finished Wolfenstein NC, I didn't like it at all and the worst game I've played in some time (I've yet to play Redfall). I thought the difficulty was cheap with dodgy checkpoints, in fact I had to lower the difficulty to "please don't hurt me/I just want to play" as it kept respawning me in the middle of a firefight without much scope to "get gud".
Some of the map layout and side missions were questionable, there was one mission where I had to locate a missing person in the home base, I had to resort to a YouTube video to find where he was. The whole game seems to be built on the premise to annoy the player.
And we won't go into the cut scenes, seriously I flicked over my TV to read the news and various websites and when I came back the cutscene was still playing.

Thankfully as I didn't enjoy it I won't even contemplate trying to platinum it, not that I have the patience for that (that trophy is another cheap aspect to this game).
The only saving grace is that I played it on PS+ Extra.
Rant over.

Shame as I really enjoyed New order and Old Blood.

@CaptD from memory I think I felt the same, really annoying difficulty spikes. TNO has a few weird moments like that but they are few and far between, where as TNC seemed to be built around them. The story too, from what I remember, seemed to disregard everything that made the first one good. I’m not sure what happened, I can’t imagine TNO was a total fluke 🤷‍♂️

Having said all that, TNC did review well so obviously some people liked it - hopefully I can find a bit of that if I give it another shot.

I hated Doom Eternal and loved Doom 2016, too.

@kyleforrester87 @CaptD The courtroom fight in New Colossus is still lodged in my memory for being an utterly horrendous difficulty spike.

I still enjoyed the game but the story felt like part two of a trilogy with no finale in sight.

JohnnyShoulder

@Thrillho At least not on PlayStation. 😥

I've yet to finish New Colossus either, as I too found the difficulty problematic.

I'm have similar issues currently with Borderlands 3, and struggling with a couple of bosses which are completely wiping me out. You can go back and try again later when you are a higher level, but is a pain as you have to go through the whole level again.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

I’ve jumped into Far Cry 5 and Dragon Quest XI S.

FC5 has me hooked by its story, but the shear size of the map is exhausting. It really does feel more like homework & less optional (tick the checklists). I also had to fiddle with the options for a good 30mins just to get it ‘right’ for me. Thought about dropping it, but the story and it’s characters are really carrying it for me.

DQXI is just wonderful. I’m playing in 3D mode on PS4. I reckon I’ll do a 2D run sometime later maybe on the Switch, as there’s no way I’ll get the platinum in this one.
My only gripe is the English VA so I’m having to switch to Japanese as I can’t stand Gemma & her ‘Crickey!, Crickey!’ sound bites. @Ralizah did you play it in Japanese? The English VA by all accounts was meant to be very good.

@JohnnyShoulder If you want some help with Borderlands 3 then post in the boost thread, I've yet to start the game but I'm happy to jump in a PushSq crew.
Coincidentally I'm playing Borderlands 2 VR ATM, good fun and I think it has been more tuned for single playe as it doesn't support MP.

@Fight_Teza_Fight Fc5 was great, hop in a plane or chopper to zip around the map a bit quicker.
As for Japanese VA, for most games I pick English VA if available as I like to avoid trying to read subtitles at the same time as the action is kicking off. I'm sure many would frown upon that.
I'm playing Ghostwire ATM and switched to English VA.

@kyleforrester87 Oh cool that you have picked up and are playing Wolfenstein at the moment. I have actually myself been playing the new Wolfenstein games on and off for a couple of years now and have like always been impressed with the quality and fun factor of the games. I think many people might have missed the games. Also thinking about all the hard work that most have gone into creating the games.

Can mention that I have yet to complete Old and YoungBlood in the series hehe.

I want to get USA version but suddenly the stocks all sold out, only 1 copy PAL version left so I have no choice but pick the PAL version.

@CaptD I almost always play with English VA, but have found myself switching back & forth in this one😅.

I did some air raids in FC5 yesterday & they were pretty great tbh.
