This quite surprised me, considering the source. OPSM is far from my favourite magazine (the Aussie version is AWFUL), so its quite shocking to see them call a spade a spade - i.e. Knack looks a bit crap.
Not surprised but I am disappointed. I guess the game could still surprise us and turn out pretty good but I haven't really been that impressed by it from the first time I saw it. Looks like it should be a $15 download at most not a full $60 retail game.
Well this is disappointing. Push Square Review might clear finaly tell if this really worth our time. After all its the official playstation magazine I expect that they still were a bit merciful.
The game is a refreshing change from the sea for first-person shooters -- but it's just very ordinary. I maintain that at a lower price, this would be an impulse purchase. For $60, though, it's probably going to be too steep.
The scary thing is that in the 7th generation a game like Knack would have been great because as get2sammyb said the 7th generation is not far off from being pretty much nothing but First Person (Or cover if you are lucky) Shooters unless you go to the rather alternative option of the Wii (Not that the Wii is bad). But with the PS4 having a bit more variety in its line up (And looking at Watch Dogs, the shooters are starting to evolve into a better form as well) and Knack may just be left behind.
All my hope for Knack rides on its pedigree. Mark Cerny and Japan Studio are great, and I'm really hoping they've yet to truly delve into what makes Knack a must-buy. With Gamescom and TGS rolling in around the corner, I want to see what will make Knack my next Crash Bandicoot.
