Can't comment on kill one but I personally have really struggled to connect with Tales of Beseria.
Bought in a sale some months back as I seemed to recall fond memories of previous Tales games back in the day I have tried to progress many times but still remain uninterested. As mentioned above it is very JRPG, many systems/mechanics to learn your way around outside of combat. In combat it seems quite simplistic, I have progressed so far with little more than button bashing randomly. Graphics are ps3 era quality with lots of anime style skits popping up to showcase dialogue between party members.
Personally I wouldn't recommend it, but this is purely my opinion - maybe I've just no longer any interest in the typical JRPG grind.
