I mostly only ever play one game at a time and I'll finish that and then move on to the next one on the list. The exceptions to this are:
1. If something new comes out that I'm super excited for I'll play that then go back to the last game;
2. If I get a game to review I play that and go back to the last game;
3. I'll sometimes switch to a second, lighter, more evergreen game if I'm playing something heavy and it gets oppressive. Like, at the minute I'm playing Nioh 2 but I was getting my head kicked in at this one area so when I get annoyed I knock it off for a while and I'll play either something light - like a Mario or whatever - or something that I can just have a game on and then leave like Civilization, or something like that.
Time for gaming is a bit less for me these days so if I end up flitting between games I never get anything finished and I easily forget where I was storywise.
That said, it’s very rare I’ve ever had more than one game on the go at a time as I like to commit to them. It’s very rare I don’t finish a game whereas I would probably drift away from games more if I had multiple on the go.
Yeah, usually one game at a time for me. Although I sometimes stop for a bit if I know I'm going to have a busy spell, such as at Christmas, kind of like those mid-season breaks they have in the US. I did it with The Witcher 3, and Bloodborne as well I think.
In this break I'll sometimes complete a smaller, easier game.
I usually have a couple of drop in/drop out games on the go as well, like a racer or Fall Guys, something like that
Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.
@Gremio108 I got stuck relatively early actually. It was I think the 5th or 6th mainline mission. I ended up respeccing my character and I was alright. I'd been silly and tried to invest points in two weapons so I could mix and match but it just meant I wasn't outputting as much damage as I could if I concentrated on one.
Usually 3 or 4 at a time in rotation. Typically a racing game, GaaS title, a single player/trophy hunting game, and whatever co-op game my kids and I are into at the time. Get a little bit of everything,
3 - 7 at pretty much any given time. And usually multiple games I need to return to with multiple playthroughs (Resident Evil 2), post-game playthroughs (Dragon Quest XI S), and DLC (The Witcher 3).
I used to just play whatever I fancied, so I now have a massive backlog. I've started playing one single player game at a time recently though and find it a lot better. I have a couple of multiplayer games installed too. That's why the PS5's storage size doesn't bother me, because I'll only have one or two games installed at any one time.
@RogerRoger Interesting. With the move toward digital games and the requirement to have huge files predownloaded onto the hard drive with all the latest patches, it’s made me become more purposeful and calculated in my gameplay sessions. I have to plan ahead a little more before I start to play, especially if I’m starting a new game. As a consequence I’ve loaded several games onto my drive so that they will be there in case I get a sudden urge. I’ve gotten those urges before to play something random in my collection, only to find out that I haven’t installed the game and there are large updates, etc, and so while I do that, the emotion passes and I lost my appetite to try the game (This happened recently with FF7R where I was itching to play it, but by the time I went back the next day after installing it, the moment had passed).
It’s strange because by the same token, having a digital library actually enhances the spontaneity of what I might play on a given day, so long as the game’s been downloaded. Not having to get off the couch to boot up a quick Battlefront 2 match after playing Ghost of Tsushima for 3 hours is very convenient.
Not sure if I’m making sense here, but I guess what I’m observing is that the digital age has caused a shift in how we plan and play our games. It has simultaneously made things more spontaneous and also less spontaneous, if that’s possible.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
I play one game until I complete it, i will have a multiplayer or sports game though helps sometimes if I get stuck or feel like its becoming a grind at certain points, nice change of pace sometimes helps especially when its a big game (The Witcher or Red Dead).
Although since my son has got a bit older (4 YO) and he has his own switch I sometimes play switch games with him and we actually completed the Kingdom Hearts games together on the ps4 which I was really proud of, I probably wouldn't of tried them if not for him and he actually managed to do a lot of them with just me watching and instructing.
