And it's awesome! Been playing it since minute 1 and I'm having great time. It's tough, but not unfair. Like a mix of Ori and the blind Forrest and dark souls.
And after a good few tries I've finally beaten my first boss! It was very enjoyable, just like it was in bloodborne. So far don't regret the purchase. Love the atmosphere and aestetics in this game, so charming.
@Simon_Fitzgerald me too, I've been playing it a lot since release. It's tough but it's very satisfying. Can't believe I almost passed on it. I could write so much about it but it's best experienced without reading much about it, maybe just some beginner tips. I've been tempted a few times to look for the directions on the internet but have up on that and I'm glad I didnt.
I regretted purchasing it at first- found the combat way too basic and the jumping seemed a bit off- but once it clicked and I got some new abilities I really started enjoying it. Definitely glad I bought it.
@Simon_Fitzgerald when you have so many options it is difficult as you could end up in a dead end or a wrong region so you'll have to do lots of backtracking, not to mention if you are carrying lots of money. I had a few situations like that and once I lost 1400 around 15h mark which was a lot of money and still is
Last night I bought this since it was just € 9. No time to play it right now, so I'm just wondering why my PS4 is downloading a 10 GB file instead of the 5 GB one as indicated on the store. Did it get 5 GB of patches or what else?
Gosh, what a wonderful game this is. I picked it up for a fiver on the store and played for a few hours last night.
I read people struggled with the first bosses, like people said above, but had no trouble for quite a while (end humblebrag). My first death was against Hornet in Greenpath. I’m just up to the Mantis Village now.
The graphics and music are just wonderful while the platforming and combat feel spot on. Hopefully I’ve got plenty of time with the game still to go.
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy It's the perfect antithesis to The Division 2. I felt like I'd done a lot of exploring getting to that point with just about everywhere I could get to on the map ticked off.
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy I wussed out of the challenge one in the Mantis Village (the Mantis Lords I think?) as I still have so little gear and it looks like there's three of them..
If you liked the Metroidvania gameplay, definitely check out Guacamelee as that is a fantastic game and the sequel is even out know (and on my to-get-at-some-point list).
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy I was exploring the City of Tears today which is such a cool area. The artwork for this game is so beautiful.
One of the other reasons I avoided the Mantis Lords was that I was sitting on a couple of thousand of whatever the gold is called and didn’t want it to all get wiped out.
The fact this comes with all the DLC released so far really is amazing for £5.
I beat the Mantis Lords yesterday and found them quite straightforward. It helped that the second phase attacks were identical to the first phase.
I am just at a point now where I had no idea where to go next and have now opened up so many routes I still don't know which one to tackle next. I did stumble on the dream nail which has opened up even more possibilities!
Blimey, this game has so much depth and some of the bosses are pretty damn tricky.
I unlocked the Grimm Troupe and finally beat Grimm... only to then come across the Nightmare King version. The Trial of the Fool has also proved something of a challenge!
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy I still have the third Dreamer to take on but have now explored every area. I'm not sure what else is in the "main" storyline or what is needed for the "good" ending either.
There's also the Godmaker(?) content to do at some point.
