@CaptD yeah I do have the Remake but having earned a couple of trophies for the original on ps3 back in 2019, I felt obliged to play through that one first. Well that one, 2 and 3 first š .
In regards to GTA Iām just glad it popped mate. Itās so notoriously buggy that I was starting to worry it wouldnāt pop before I hit 300, let alone 200.
All of the GTA IV online trophies are now done! Man⦠Iām pretty ****ing psyched rn. This was a game that I wanted to return to for a while⦠but due to the insane online requirements, I always just hoped that a remaster would be released where the online was removed (like Red Dead Redemption)⦠but really glad I took the gamble. Have met some really nice people along the way (& some idiots š ) but⦠itās now categorical⦠the plat is most definitely on! š„³
@Th3solution itās a crazy hobby/habit/obsession tbh⦠and I couldāve probably cured cancer, solved world hunger and implemented world peace with the time and effort Iāve put into trophy hunting these past 5 years but⦠humans š¤·āāļø. Weāre a strange bunch š .
I love the chase of a tough platinum particularly for some masochistic reason though. One that is not necessarily just difficult but also one requiring me to undertake loads of research, reach out to people with past experience, create networks with like-minded people wanting the same thing at the same time and working together to achieve what we all thought was un-achievable until less than a month ago. Little projects like this occupy my mind which can be far too busy if I havenāt got something to focus on and gives a lovely sense of peace when achieved⦠until the next one š¤Æ
@Yousef- the single player stuff is mostly complete too tbh. Just have some mopping up to do for the 100%. Iām gonna leave it for now though as Iām gonna save GTA IVās plat for my next milestone. So Iām gonna go plat another 13 games and then return to Liberty City in around November.
Although Iām only halfway through my impossible run on Dead Space, Iāve made a start on Prince of Persia (2008) this morning and⦠not sure how I feel about it yet if Iām honest. The presentation, lore and narrative all seem fine but the combat seems a little bit hit and miss (though it did start to click with me during the first boss fight) and the traversal seems very janky. Iāve jumped to my death about four times already, when I wasnāt even intending to jump at all. Apparently itās not a long game, so Iāll no doubt see it through to its conclusion and hopefully end up liking it⦠just not overly convinced of that right now.
In regard to Dead Space, I was hoping to get the impossible run complete over the weekend but didnāt get a chance to game at all⦠so Iām gonna try and get a mission or two done per day in which case, it should š¤ be done by the end of the week. Really enjoying the survival-horror aspect of the impossible difficulty btw. I just had an over-abundance of ammo, health packs, stasis and air canisters during my Normal run and the added need to ration everything really adds to the experience.
Played a bit more Prince of Persia (probably 75% through it now) and itās grown on me. Iāve played some absolute ps3 bangers this year and this wouldnāt be in that category but⦠itās decent. The traversal is still super janky but you start to understand what the game wants from the player and you start to play into that, which helps⦠a bit š . And the combat, which is a very minor part of the game tbh is not as bad as Iād originally thought. Not bad š¤
@Yousef- so this one is simply Prince of Persia which was released in 2008 and to my knowledge⦠an attempted reboot (the second of the series). Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands was released 2 years later and a continuation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (the first reboot of the series).
Funnily enough I picked up Forgotten Sands the same day I picked this one up and plan on playing it in a couple of months.
@colonelkilgore@Yousef- I played both on PS3, and enjoyed both, as I recall ā The PoP reboot and the Forgotten Sands. I was once a big fan of the franchise.
Of course PoP begat Assassinās Creed and so my interest followed and I was obsessed with AC up until 4.
Iām glad youāve enjoyed some of the PoP reboot. It has its own unique art style, movement, and gameplay. The Forgotten Sands is a better and more traditional PoP game and closer to what would become AC, but I would say the same as you ā that first PoP game on PS3 is decent and worthwhile. I think youāll like the next one better, although itās unlikely to crack your PS3 top 10 either.
āWe cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.ā
@Th3solution yeah the art style, while lovely (I do like that cell-shaded look) Iām not sure that it fits the setting/period. Looks great considering how old it is though.
Good to know the next Prince of Persia Iāll be playing is even better though⦠and will be a more accurate experience in regards to the series as a whole.
@Buckster yeah I played Asuraās Wrath earlier this year⦠not the greatest gameplay design but the epic and bat-**** crazy story more than made up for it. Awesome art and character design too.
The Dead Space impossible run is bloody difficult fair play. Now through to chapter 7 and itās only gonna get harder š . On a different note⦠itās mad how popular ps3 is rn, I just went to log off for the evening and noticed that 12 people from my friends list are currently on their ps3ās š¤·āāļø
Currently playing Full Auto 2 (fun Burnout meets Flatout I'd say (has weapon arenas/derbies and races, and objectives like Blur has of primary have to do and secondary ones, some fair weapon unlocks, fair cosmetics/vehicles to unlock, selection of vehicles and unlocks are very Burnout like besides the objectives being part of it of course then however many stars/medals of Burnout).
Just finished (speaking of shooters been collecting) Wanted Weapons of Fate few days ago (Space Marine 1 prior on PS3 as my 36t0 copy won't work for me, least got it cheap), no interest in the trophies for them so did the ones I thought I could.
Enjoyed the bending bullets mechanic like did the bending fists in Rayman 3 and gave up on the last area of Turning Point as it was just not worth it and it was the last what 10 minutes in a long play I saw so no point if I get stuck and can't be bothered for hours on it now matter my strategies, aiming or patience.
So got to play more of Blacksite (Area 51 sequel not sure), get back to Spec Ops The Line, play more then the first 2 missions of Socom Special Forces and enjoying it's weapon level up/unlocks even if Resistance does it better.
Got many others to get through on many consoles but those I'm focusing on currently. Left behind games on PS3 and even ones on 360 with no back compat on Xbox because why not trying some I have maybe heard of but never played till now (or still researching), or never heard of but was surprised by.
@Yousef- while it wouldnāt be my favourite, I did really enjoy it. The gameplay itself probably is more fun due to the more shootāem up nature of it⦠but for me at least Red Dead is at its best in the moments between all the action. My fondest memories from the series was tracking down all of the various wildlife in wild-west serenity tbh.
Having just finished my Impossible playthrough on Dead Space and being left feeling the game is a masterpiece⦠I wanted to go back and check on the Push Square Top 112 PS3 Games list to see how it fared. I think #16 is pretty fair tbh⦠I might personally have it a bit higher but no arguments from me. I noticed that Dead Space 2 came in at #35, and I have that on the agenda over the next couple of months, so Iām curious to see whether I agree that itās worse or think itās the better game.
As far as the first one goes, my respect for the game grew quite a lot during this impossible playthrough and I honestly think itās one of the all-time greats rn⦠but that could well be some recency bias š¤·āāļø
