okay, so i just got this ps3. No history on it whats so ever. it turns on and says this system cannot be run correctly. Telling me i have to update it to 4.60 or over. i tried to update it on 2 usb flash drives formatted to phat32. with the correct folder pathway (PS3-UPDATE-(firmware file). i kno its not the flash drive because it worked on 3 other ps3s. And the file isnt corrupted because im using the same file. Ive tried the newest ofw all the way down to the oldest( i know crazy right thought it could work) i took the hdd out and switched it with one that was running newest ofw. didnt do nothing but when i put it back in my other ps3 it got the same error code but i was able to put a usb in and update it no problem. when i try to do the same to the other ps3 it gets stuck at checking. I try to rebuild the data base in safe mode but it says storage cannot be acessed. it freezes in safe mode to somtimes unless i restore the system. ive put the hdd into a working ps3 running newest firmware and reformated it but i dont want to update it because its not 4.60 and i think ill realky screw myself then. i dont have a adapter to fully wipe the drive and reformat it so i want to do it on another ps3 but i dont have nun running 4.60. Idk if that woukd work or not. Anyhelp would be apreciated. Its a older slim model
Sounds like it’s not an issue with firmware or hard drives. I bought a ps3 once which was smoke damaged and yet didn’t smell. It did all sorts of weird stuff and bricked after one week.
Sorry I’m not more help but if I were you I’d ditch it and get another.
