Im wonder if its possible to play a game on a disc then continue playing the same files on the download version. the game im thinking of is assassins creed III
im thinking of buying my own copy of assassins creed 3, and currently playing it on my friends Disc version and i dont really want to start all over
It's your friends disc but you are playing it on your PS3? If so you will be fine. As long as you get it for the same system you have been playing it on you won't have to do anything. Once you buy your own copy disc or digital and start playing it should recognize your save file.
I had black ops 2 on disk I traded it in cause its a god awful game (opinion) I bought it again out of sheer boredom and had to begin again from prestige 1. BUT I was suspended and made to change my gamer tag so that may have been the reason for my dilemma, no biggie though Ibe ame master prestige quite quickly. Idk if it was the digital download or the change in name (my name was originally ateoff_hitlure) but I was reset on the COD servers.

it depends on the game i owned ico, shadow of the colossus and infamous 2 on disc got the digital versions and it wont use the disc based save as it creates its own whereas my battlefield 3 digital uses the same save from my battlefield disc.

Wow really? I guess it isn't every game then. Only solution is to check around the internet and see if your game can do it.
