*** ALERT - LONGISH TECHNICAL QUESTION ***

I decided to redo the thermal paste on my old PS3 Slim. Everything went well except when I was reconnecting the Bluray disk drive.

There are 3 flex cables on the back that connect to 3 separate connectors on the motherboard. These cables are a thin white one, medium orange one and a wider white one.

These are the pictures of the cables and their connectors (hope they are visible)

The stiff plastic backing on the thinnest white cable came off and now it won't stay in the connector. I have circled these in the pictures.

This seems to be the power eject cable.since the PS3 will not accept or eject DVDs anymore. The drive itself and the main cable below it seem fine.

Is there a way to glue a new stiff plastic backing on this cable? (I think the old one fell off somewhere and lost). I'd rather not mess with a whole replacement since I'd have to take the drive apart and may cause more failures to the laser - but will.do if that is needed. Any other suggestions or workarounds?

Can't seem to find this configuration of cabling anywhere.

Thanks in advance for any wisdom. Almost there and I fat fingered it!!

Thanks

JR
