Topic: All 1442 PlayStation 3 games need rating in order - I need you!

@ZeD great idea. We will run an appeal week every fourth week. I will adjust the rules.

What I need to do is make a Google doc like @Ralizah did and put all the games in there. Then every fourth week we could get 2/3 team appeals - rather than trying to rush it through at the end of the week.

@KALofKRYPTON Haha. They are the only none graded games from last week if it happens again another team will get them.

@LieutenantFatman For me, the factors are, in order:

• GLOBAL INFLUENCE (how influential on other games and/or the public were they? I think how well a game sells also factors into this, although to a much lesser extent, as bad games can occasionally sell well.)
• TECHNICAL MERIT (did they push the hardware they were on?)
• ARTISTIC MERIT (are they artistically excellent?)
• PERFORMANCE (how well does the game run? I consider this a branch-off of the "ARTISTIC MERIT" category)
• LOCAL INFLUENCE (how influential were they on subsequent games in that series?)
• PERSONAL OPINION (do I actually like the game myself?)

If this was just a list of my favorite games, my recommendations would look very different.

Don't worry too much about having a different opinion than me, though. I don't plan on heavily factoring my own judgment into the appeals process. If the majority of the team wants an appeal to go through, then that's what I'll do. I may have this this position, but there's no reason my voice should be louder than anyone else's on the team.

No worries at all. But as I say, a game such as Spelunky would score very poorly if judged using that system. Not that I'm saying your system is wrong or that mine is better, just interesting to note what's more important depending on the player.

I think Zed & themcnoisy's idea to leave a bit more time for appeals should help to improve the process anyway. And then your idea for the team voting on each appeal should hopefully work a lot better. And if someone doesn't vote perhaps the default there should be an abstain and not count towards the total? I think that would make for a fairer process.

@LieutenantFatman I could see Spelunky being "Important," as it has been pretty heavily influential on other indie games. That might drop depending on the game's PS3 performance, though. I'd have to research the tech specs.

I'd also have to consider Journey to be "Important," and that kills me, personally. Hard to argue with the broad critical acclaim and influence of that game, however.

I agree. People who don't vote should have no say in the process.

That's fair, I would be surprised if it sturggled on PS3 performance wise, but it's certainly possible. I didn't get on with Journey either, found it all a bit boring. It's great that it gave so many such a unique & awesome experience though. Should make for some interesting discussions when these games come along later.

@Ralizah @LieutenantFatman Journey was great but imo overrated. I loved a few of the set pieces and they have stayed with me - especially the latter trudge up the Mountain. But ultimately what a number of PlayStation gamers may have felt - I already had a similar experience on games on PC online.

@themcnoisy @LieutenantFatman IMO, Journey is the ultimate 'style over substance' game; a deeply boring experience that tricked people into thinking it was profound with some pretty music and decent art direction. It was deeply influential to leagues of indies and walking sims, though, which makes it an important release.
