Topic: 2 X PS3 IN STORAGE 11 YEARS - NEED HELP

Both were in storage 11 years. I am worried Sony will destroy them with updates.

I refuse to buy any console that forces me to pay a subscription and doesn't allow me physical ownership of games. If Sony and the others want non-physical ownership and rent - I'm out forever.

I am worried that after 11 years sitting in storage these barely used PS3's will be destroyed by Sony when I do an update.

I want to play Call of Duty Black Ops and other PS3 games with FREE multiplayer again. It was allot of fun.

Any risks in updating after 11 years ? Please help.

No there's no risk. Multiplayer is still free.

I don't see any reason for a Sony update to destroy a PS3 unless you've hacked it, so you should be fine.

Some of the old Call of Duty games have hackers in them that could make it hard to play. Also, some CoDs have a bug that prevents playing online or saving multiplayer progress if you've created an account or changed your PSN name after a certain time (I can't remember the specific year, but I'm assuming it was after PS4 came out).

I've been able to play World at War in the last few months ok, but my friend got hacked to where they can't unlock anything around the same time. I know I can't save in Black Ops 1 or the Modern Warfare trilogy since I changed my PSN name. Black Ops 2 would freeze if I launched it while online. I was able to play Ghosts and Advanced Warfare around a year or 2 ago just fine and without hackers, although I've heard that there are hackers now. I've never had Black Ops 3 on PS3, so I can't advise on that one.
