Won a PS5 2 weeks ago thru the Playstation Email. It's been 2 weeks and I still haven't received my package. Tracking says it's been rescheduled. But nothing has happened. They said they'll get back to me when they have an update but ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS!! WTF

Are you sure it was an official giveaway and not some sort of scam? Double check the email.

Yeah, that's a pretty legit question. I've never heard of them just giving them away. I've only known them to send invites to buy them for whenever they have drops on their PlayStation Direct online store.

If the email address has nothing to do with Sony or PlayStation, then it was a scam. The email address having nothing to do with the company is one way I easily write something off as a scam.

Hope you didn't give them any bank account info.

No..I won the chance to buy a PS5 from the Playstation direct email they send out..so I did! The Email was legit. Got to chat with a rep on the site and they opened up a case apparently. I can easily get a refund thru my Cc..but I want my PS5!!

@Itsgtime Ok, that's not what you said, which is why we thought it might be a scam.

Anyways, that's weird that you haven't gotten it yet. I ordered one from them back in June and it was delivered in 2 days. I'm assuming it's been shipped and is somehow lost (which is what I gather from your original post now), which sucks.

@Itsgtime it may just be that they are taking a while to work through their deliveries etc...be positive and give it a bit more time.

@nessisonett speaking of scams, did yours ever arrive from eBay all those months ago?

@MatthewJP Hahahahaha that was an ordeal. It was a complete scam and I got my money back. I was an idiot for not being patient and waiting to buy one properly but I did get one officially a few months later. It would have been under the tree at Christmas last year if all went to plan but at least I had one by February.

@Thrillho I burned it. It felt like the right thing to do.

I have a question about playing PS4 games on PS5, I don't know if this is the right forum but anyway. If I have an external hard drive hooked to my PS4 and have games downloaded on it, can I just hook it to a PS5 and it will run the games on it(as long as the are BC)?

I went to shopto to buy some PSN credit and it randomly put me in a queue to buy a ps5. My place in the queue is actually steadily going down.

My problem is that I didn't intend to buy a ps5 and I don't really know if I want to actually buy one for £450. This must be the most unique dilemma ever. I potentially have the opportunity to buy this sought after piece of kit but I am actually unsure whether I want it or not.

My main concerns are with the build quality. I always wait to buy consoles until years after launch so all the weird bugs and hardware issues get ironed out in revisions. Also consoles generally get cheaper after that time. I don't suppose anybody will be able to advise on that seeing as it's only been out a year.

My second concern is actually buying it and especially buying it from Shopto. I've never had to do a return with shopto but i can't imagine they make it easy for people to do, especially for something like a ps5.

I feel like these constantly sold out products are hard to reckon with UK consumer law regarding online purchases, especially if it's faulty or develops a fault within the first 6 months.

I guess my other hang up would be the cost of storage because I'll probably want to get another SSD for it and potentially even a 4tb usb drive too to transfer PS4 games from onto the internal drive

I dunno, what do people think? Should I go through with it or should I wait another couple of years??

See ya!

Haha screw it, they only had bundles in stock starting at £600. I just bought my PSN credit and left 😂

I can't believe I waited in a virtual queue for 40 mins to buy PSN credit

See ya!

@ralphdibny Ah, man - too bad. I was going to say go for it! I think the build quality is good. Obviously there are plenty of people who’ve had to send back their PS5, but just the eyeball test and to feel the weight of the machine, it seems premium. In fact, I’ve been using my PS4 a little this past week just because it’s still hooked up in another room and I already had RE3 and some other games downloaded on it and figured I’d just stick with it there (somewhat due to the storage space dilemma you mention) and the vanilla PS4 and it’s DS4 controller ‘feel’ considerably cheaper. I honestly thought there was something wrong with my PS4 because it was running so hot and the fan so loud by comparison. But I had just grown accustomed to the PS5 over the last several months. (As an aside, despite getting more and more used to the DualSense, I still like the way the DS4 fits into my hands better. It’s easier to reach buttons and feels more comfortable)

I’m sure that there will be kinks worked out in years to come and the next iteration of the PS5 will be more fine tuned, but I have a feeling that it will be a while. For now, it seems to be a solid piece of hardware as far as I’m concerned.

I have to say thank god. It's bad enough having to deal with him on the Xbox side. Oh, wait, I don't have you on my friends list on either platform....

I've gotten used to the look of the PS5 over the almost year it's been out now. I definitely prefer the DualSense over the DS4 as it feels a lot better to me in both build quality and size/shape. Not that I play many FPS games on PlayStation, but the DS always felt a bit awkward with them. Since this is shaped more like an Xbox controller now, that has basically gone away finally. My only complaint about the PS5 hardware is that it's still not whisper quiet like they promised because of a couple internal choices, but it's still waaaaaay better than the PS4 Pro in that regard obviously.

@KilloWertz haha. Don't worry, I am notoriously private with my PSN/gamer tag anyway 😂

Interesting thoughts on the controller, I'm not sure what I prefer really. D-Pad games is DS4 all day but otherwise I'm not fussed, both xb and ps pads are comfortable. I've never held a DualSense for any great amount of time so I can't comment

@Th3solution ahh it's all cool. I even went back in the queue and seriously considered the £600 bundle as I'd quite like that red controller. I just couldn't bring myself to buy 3 games that I don't want and couldn't sell at the same price I paid for them

I think as well, my plan was always to get either or both of the next gen consoles some years down the line. So all my gaming schedule for the foreseeable future is based around PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Switch. I've bought cross gen games on PS4 for that reason and most multiplat games I Wana play are on gamepass anyway so I'd have to realign that, buy upgrades and all that jazz if a ps5 suddenly landed in my lap.

Cheers for your thoughts on build quality though. It can be so hard to tell this early and Im always wary of new tech due to my 360 RRODing one month out of warranty back in the day

The DS4 is definitely nice, it's just right for me really I think! The DS1, 2 and 3 were all nice but the rounded handles of the DS4 make it the most comfortable of them all. As I said to Kilowertz, I've yet to make a judgement on the DualSense. (I wonder how we will end up abbreviating that, would be nice to just call it a DS5!)

Something else I am probably not ready to get used to on PS5 is the version differences thing. Sounds a bit confusing to work out whether you've got PS4 or ps5 version of games installed and also whether games have a free or paid upgrade etc. Sounds like it's got a bit better with some updates and I'm sure I'd pick it up quick once I had a ps5 in front of me but I'm ok with not learning all the intricacies of it for a while at least

See ya!

@ralphdibny I ended up in that same queue because a mate of mine wanted a PS5 for his kids for Christmas. I saw the stock alert and jumped on it and when I first got put in the queue I was 4000th odd. Eventually got through to buy to find that they only had bundles like you mentioned and at least 2 of the games were ones he wouldn't want.

I still thought he'd rather have one than not though so committed to buying it only to find out that the payment got rejected by my credit card issuer. Got a text to say that someone had tried to make a payment of £600 odd and was it me, if yes then reply. So I duly texted yes only to receive a further text to say that I should try again in 10 minutes. Considering I had 9 minutes to confirm my purchase then that just wasn't going to work out and sure enough got booted from the site. It put me back in the queue and now I was 14000th odd 😂

I don't know if that says something about shopto as I've not had that happen with any other site, or if it's more than I don't usually make purchases for that amount on the card. I've used them plenty of times for digital vouchers so assuming it's more my purchase history.
