My son has a PS4. He tells me he can play an MP4 file on his PS from a flash drive onto a TV. We got as far as having the flash drive formatted to FAT32. After that we're lost. Tried searching on-line, and confused.
One web site says to create a "PS4" file on the flash drive and then create another file inside this one. ???
Another web site says to convert the MP4 file into something else so it can be played on the PS4.
The MP4 file is approx. 560,000Kb large.
Can anyone please explain, in simple words, how to get a MP4 file working on the PS4?

Thanks for any help.

@MarMaduke Should find this helps:

I'd suggest, after formatting the stick in exFAT, you create a folder called "VIDEO" and put your MP4 files in there. It's worth noting that some MP4 files will only play on the Pro (4K video).

I ran into the same issue when trying to play MP4s on my PS4. What worked for me was converting the files to the PS4-friendly format using a simple video converter—some MP4s won’t play because of codec differences, even if the extension is correct.

I usually transfer the converted files via a USB drive and put them in a folder named “Videos,” then the PS4 Media Player picks them up without issues.

For converting or checking codecs, I’ve used https://www.movavi.com/ before. It’s straightforward and helps make sure your files actually work on the console.
