Hi just purchased a second hand PS4. New to gaming so dont no if this is normal. Put in the disc for call of duty ww11 and it told me it is gonna take 15hrs to download. Cancelled and deleted it and put in Tom Clancy's The Division 2 Game and that told me it was going to take 26hrs to download! Is this normal or do I have a problem with my PS4?

This is normal unfortunately, but I've never had to wait this long for a game to download.

@Bobbyd40 Hey - as others have said, some large games, particularly those updated regularly like The Division 2 and Call of Duty do have very large download sizes to be able to play the game. Other games, typically single player titles are a lot smaller in size.

However that is extreme and it would largely come down to your internet speeds. Sony is limiting download speeds due to Covid-19 but ultimately you need good bandwidth. Only recommendations would be to check your download speeds, connect your PS4 via ethernet to your router if possible and start downloads to run overnight when speeds have less competition. It is one of the challenges of modern gaming now - if you can't get fast speeds, updates and installs take ages.

@Tasuki Give it a few years and there will be!

@Bobbyd40 That's quite long. My downloads usually take more around an hour. It's not a hardware problem or anything, but there could be anything in your settings. Best would be to run a network check for your PS4: go to System settings -> Network -> Test Internet Connection.

Your NAT-type should be anything but 3, and I wonder what your download speed is.

Also, what I often do is turn on downloads the evening before I play a game and then put my PS4 in rest mode. You can configure the PS4 so that it downloads while in rest mode.

@Rudy_Manchego The 11th world war will probably start due to some people hating the story in The Last Of Us 5.

@Bobbyd40 You got anything else online in your house while you're trying to install them? Switch off netflix, turn off any tablets or phones. Should bring the estimated download time down. As others have said, start downloading before you go to bed and leave the PS4 in rest mode when you turn it off

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

@Kidfried If it gets to Part 5 then it will need to be renamed None of Us because Ellie will have butchered every last member of humanity.

@Bobbyd40 Also close down any apps you have open (such as any games or streaming services like Netflix) before downloading anything as this will prolong the download process, especially if you put the console into rest mode as the apps will still be open in the background. You can do this by holding the PS button on the controller and selecting 'Close Open Applications'.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

@Bobbyd40 Having your router plugged directly into your console will speed up downloads too.

The alternative would be to disconnect your console from the internet completely and then put the game in and play the unpatched version. Obviously, you won’t be able to play any multiplayer modes.
