Hi there,
So I'm having major connection issues and I'm not sure what else to do at this point.
Background info:
My internet randomly drops which makes it incredibly difficult to play online games. For a long time I noticed the wifi on my phone and smart lights dropping too, so I've been thinking it might have to do with my literal internet connection. And when I ran speed tests, the fastest it would ever be is about 150mbps. Also we have 5 people here and about 15 devices, so that is probably an issue. However I've fixed several things and now seem to have no issue with anything except my ps4. My lights will work, speed tests directly through my router and from my phone in the same room as my ps4 will come up with really good speeds (100+ Mbps download, 5+ Mbps upload) while my ps4 will be awful (3mbps download, 300kbps upload). So now I'm considering the possibility that my ps4 is also an issue.
Things I've already done:

  • Got a nice new router. It's for a mesh system because while we have a tiny apartment, this wall appears to consistently be an issue. So I was thinking I may need to put a point in my room.
  • Set my ps4 to only use 5ghz
  • Called my ISP and replaced our shitty modem with a newer one
  • Called them and demanded the speeds we are paying for (which hasn't happened btw, supposedly we are supposed to be getting 250mbps)
  • Prioritized my ps4 using the app for my router
  • Gone through the completely unhelpful PS4 "fix my connection" thing
  • checked my signal strength (lower than average, usually between 50 and 70%)

Things I'm considering doing (but realistically don't want to invest the money without at least getting some more input):

  • Buy a point for my mesh system and putting it in my room
  • Buy a coaxial cable splitter and putting it between the wall and my modem (heard from a fairly technologically inept friend that it helped him, but I'm insanely skeptical)
  • Upgrade to GB wifi (but will that even help??)

So yeah. I'm incredibly frustrated and open to suggestions

Hi, how are you?

What I would try to do, is to delete the WiFi network from the PS4 and then adding it again, everything default, to see if things improve.

In my country we don't have those internet speeds available, I only have 2mbps download and 1mbps upload, and I can play online, my router is like 3,5 meters away from my PS4 and I play wireless.

That would be my 1st option, if it doesn't work; try to buy a cable and provide internet to the PS4 through the wire, once you do it check the speed, if the speed improves, everything is solved.

I hope this helps.
