Topic: How to get PS4 remote play working properly

Hello,
I don't have much luck with PS4 features: my 3D playback is glitchy and I have never been able to get remote play working REMOTELY i.e. anywhere further away than a few metres. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?
Firstly, here's what I've done so far. I bought a PS Vita with the main aim in mind to make use of Remote Play. It works as it should but the screen is tiny and I can't go far without it cutting out (and I have a small house). I then bought a repeater as my main aim was to use it by connecting up to my laptop in my garage. In the garage, it briefly connected once but couldn't sustain it. I then bought a second repeater and spaced them out between my router as evenly as possible. No difference.
Recently, I bought a weatherproof ethernet cable (quite expensive!) and tried testing it before I go ahead with fitting the cable around my house. To do this, I tried to get one of my repeaters to work as an Access Point which the instructions claimed was possible. This didn't seem to have an effect even though the cable was connected to my router at one end and the AP right next to my laptop at the other end. This baffled me. Another solution was to use my old Macbook which has an actual LAN connection for the ethernet cable to plug straight into. This couldn't possibly fail, right? Wrong.
As with my Windows laptop, I installed the PS4RP app and tested it right next to my PS4. It worked perfectly. I then plugged in the ethernet cable to my laptop and went to the garage and it suddenly couldn't connect anymore even though my internet connection appeared strong. As a last desperate act, I plugged another ethernet cable from the router directly to the PS4. This made no difference and I'm now at a loss, having spent quite a lot of money.
There is a chance I may not have set up my routers/APs properly but I doubt it. There is also a chance that I need to configure something with the router itself or maybe the laptop to get it to make full use of the ethernet but how is it that my internet connection works but PS4RP doesn't? In the meantime, I know I've activated PS4RP on my PS4 as well as activated it as my primary PS4.
My question is: has anyone ever found this ****ing thing works at all, and if so, how did you do it?
If I get advice to do things I've already done, I'm willing to give it a second try so thanks for any suggestions at all.
