Topic: External Disc Drive?

Hi folks, my PS4 disc drive has now broken for the second time. It was only 'repaired' 5 months ago. I'm now wondering if I can use an external disc reader to play my physical discs on PS4! Would this work, considering it would be USB connected? I'm just trying to save £200 for a new PS4 or paying £60 to fix my disc drive each time it breaks. Thank you!

That will not work. PS4 wouldn't have the drivers for it and you could not install them. You are stuck with the internal disc drive! Even then, on PS3 you couldn't just swap the actual internal drive without also moving over some of the boards on the drive due to how license locked they were. Not sure if that's true with PS4 though.

EDIT: Contact who 'fixed' it though. Unless you are really unlucky or hard on the drive, it shouldn't break after only 6 months. I've had two launch PS4's still running strong after hard use. I don't think any of my other friends have ever had a disc drive failure either yet. Could just be 'my luck' I guess
