Topic: Can scratches on the cover art of a disc damaged it?

My brother bought me Dark Souls III a few days ago, but the art on the disc was scratched and I am a little worried that this will affect the ability of my ps4 to read the game disc. Does anyone have information about this?

As far as I know, the underside of that forms the reflective layer, so yes - that could cause problems.

@JigsawPieces Oh well, it is unfortunate but I suppose there is nothing I can do. Thank you very much for answering.

@Asancame Sorry for being the bearer of (potentially) bad news. Can you or your brother give it a try, and/or get it exchanged for a disc without the scratch?

@JigsawPieces Don’t worry about it, these things happen sometimes. As for what you suggest I don’t think it is possible as it was an used copy, I already talked with him and we are searching for another copy, just in case this one fails at some point.

@Asancame Depending on where he bought it from and how long ago he bought it, some second hand stores still guarantee the disks. So you might be able to get a refund, as the stores should be checking the disks for damage before they sell them.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
