And how difficult is it?
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has been out for a whole week now, and hopefully, that's been long enough for you lot to figure out whether you like the game or not. From Software's latest blood-soaked adventure was met with very positive reviews -- our own included -- but what have you made of the one-armed wolf's story? Whether...
Getting stuck into Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice this weekend? Well, you may want to heighten the excitement with the game's dynamic PlayStation 4 theme, which is available to download right now from the PlayStation Store for free. The theme's pretty cool -- it's got some nice artwork of the title's main character, as well as its own backing...
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is less than two weeks away from release now, and if your excitement wasn't already at an all-time high, the launch trailer for the game is sure to raise it a couple of notches. Check it out in the video above. If you're weary of spoilers though, you might want to give this clip a miss. The trailer features...
Just a heads up
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice looks really bloody good, based on what we've seen and heard of the game up to this point. Developed by the talented folks over at From Software and published by Activision, we're looking forward to getting our hands on the action title when it launches later this month. However, it's become clear that...
You know what we want
From Software, the now revered Japanese developer behind the Dark Souls series and PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne, has not one, but two unannounced projects in the works. The news comes directly from studio boss Hidetaka Miyazaki, who, speaking to 4Gamer, revealed that the developer is perhaps a lot busier behind the scenes...
Trailer appears at The Game Awards
Er, did From Software just tease Bloodborne 2? The Game Awards featured a tiny trailer that states "Shadows Die Twice." It shows some sort of blood-soaked mechanism before the words appear on screen. Bloodborne 2? It's Bloodborne 2, right? Please be Bloodborne 2.
A return is probably on the cards
The Dark Souls series and Bloodborne put Japanese developer From Software on the map for many, but it's often forgotten that the studio has another long-standing property under its belt: Armored Core. For those who don't know, Armored Core is a mecha action series that originated on the PSone, and its most...
Eternal Ring by From Software lined up
From Software wasn’t always a household name behind some of the biggest action role-playing games in the industry, y’know? Prior to the surprise success of Demon’s Souls, the Japanese developer was making niche titles like the King’s Field series and Eternal Ring. Speaking of which, the latter is set to...
Born of the blood
Sony only really needs to utter two words to steal E3 2017 in a couple of months: Bloodborne 2. The original may not have been the biggest seller ever – it still performed pretty well, of course – but among hardcore gamers the series is an absolute show-stopper for sure. And it's got to be happening, right? Well, the developer...
May the good blood guide you?
From Software, the Japanese studio behind the Dark Souls games, currently has three new titles in production. That's according to Hidetaka Miyazaki, who was speaking ahead of E3 2016 with 4Gamer.net. According to a translation of the interview, one of these titles is a dark fantasy action role-playing game similar to...
Fresh from the success of Dark Souls III, it appears From Software is beginning to look to the future. The Japanese developer – which is fast approaching its 30th anniversary – uploaded a video to its YouTube channel, teasing the platforms that it will be working on next. Among those listed are the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR...
Praise the moon
Bloodborne is without doubt one of the best games of the year, and its forthcoming expansion is one of this author's most anticipated holiday releases. From Software, however, is a very busy organisation, so what are the chances of Sony teaming up with the company again to create a sequel or some kind of new game? Worldwide Studios...
Prepare to cry
After the release of Bloodborne earlier this year - as well as the recently announced Dark Souls III which is set to launch in early 2016 - some have expressed concern that From Software's distinctive brand of mega-difficult game might be releasing too often. However, this fear seems to be unfounded, as the studio has recently...
Please, punish us
As expected, Dark Souls III has been officially announced. The breaking news comes courtesy of - ahem - the Xbox E3 presser, though don't worry, it's not an Xbox exclusive and we'll still be able to get our puny little arses whipped just as badly as our Xbox brethren. There's no solid release date right now, but the teaser did...
From heaven (or hell)
Hidetaka Miyazaki's rise to prominence has been swift and unexpected. The Japanese developer – who now has a slew of critically acclaimed titles under his belt – most recently fronted production on PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne, but his career path is an unusual one. He started out working for US company Oracle,...
Were you one of the people harbouring concerns that Dark Souls spiritual successor Bloodborne would be too easy? Well, that fear can now be safely put to bed, as recent statements from Sony staffers suggest that the title will absolutely be living up to its perilous pedigree. As you may be aware, the game will be takin
Releasing 5th February in Japan
Our anticipation for Bloodborne has been growing steadily with each passing second, but it saw a massive spike when Sony revealed a brand new gameplay trailer for the title during its pre-TGS conference this morning. The painfully short clip shows off a handful of grandiose cu
And so the nightly hunt begins
While E3 2014's cinematic trailer for From Software's next PS4 project managed to portray the atmosphere and setting for Bloodborne in all of its gothic, grotesque glory, we finally have a more in-depth look at how the game actually plays, and thankfully, it looks quite a bit better than the leak that appeared months...
The beast goes on
You may recall a few weeks ago when some screenshots were leaked of a new game by From Software titled Project Beast. Well, if those lonely images weren't enough to hold you over until E3, you'll be glad to hear that you can now view the title in motion thanks to a recently leaked trailer. Ladies and gentlemen, the hype is real...
And it looks like Dark Souls developer From Software's making it
How do you inject a spot of spice into a slow news day? You start rumours about Sony’s next big PlayStation 4 exclusive, of course. And that’s exactly what’s happening all over the web right now, as purported images of the platform holder’s rumoured collaboration with From...
You are not dead
Niche developer From Software has been purchased by Japanese publisher Kadokawa, according to a report on Siliconera. The latter will apparently acquire 80 per cent of the Dark Souls studio’s stock, as part of a deal that’s set to be completed on 21st May. It’s unclear yet how much money has exchanged hands, but we’re...
Hop to it
You may know From Software for the deviously difficult Dark Souls series, but the Japanese developer once dabbled in a different kind of demanding. Set to secure a re-release on the PlayStation Network in North America this week, The Adventures of Cookie & Cream was a PlayStation 2 platformer in which you controlled two rabbits through...
If you've fallen in love with the rock hard Dark Souls, then you might want to know what's next for developer From Software
Hint: it's not the involving fantasy adventure you might be hoping for. No, instead it's Armored Core 5 — the latest release in the long-running mech action series. Assuming you're not instantly put off by the word "mech", then you might like to know that publisher..
We've never understood the fascination with speed-runs
Apparently the draw is all about pushing a game beyond its defined boundaries. That's all well and good for a game like Super Mario 64, but when you're talking about Dark Souls — notably one of the most challenging games ever released — you're clearly clinically insane. Embedded after the jump is the first video in a seven part series..
Dark Souls topped the Japanese sales charts this week, shifting a monstrous 279,567 copies
We're starting to wonder if Sony regrets not pushing Demon's Souls harder worldwide now, with success pretty much guaranteed in the West too. Sony's ICO & Shadow Of The Colossus Collection had a similarly strong opening, scooping up the second, 14th and 20th spots. EA's Shadows Of The Damned wasn't so..
From Software has announced it's preparing a patch to fix online issues in the Japanese version of Dark Souls
A number of Japanese players have been reporting freezing issues since the game's release yesterday. From Software said it has isolated the issue and will release a patch in the coming days. Until then, From has suspended the online component of the game. [Thanks Andriasang]
Atlus originally only pledged a few months support for Demon's Souls' ambitious multiplayer component
Of course it wasn't counting on the title completely blowing up. And as a result it's announced that it's continuing support for the title into 2012. Good news for soul slayers!
This is great
According to Japanese blog Esuteru, those picking up illegitimate pre-release copies of Dark Souls are set to get punished by overpowered, maximum level Black Phantoms which developer From Software is dropping into the game-world. The irony is whether players will even notice the retribution. After all, those picking up the sequel to Demon's Souls are probably expecting to die lots.
From Software's attached an all-new January 26th release date to its mech title Armored Core V
The title was originally due out next month in the region, but was pushed back earlier in the year due to feedback from the game's beta. Namco Bandai has already signed up publishing duties in the West.
We'd be excited for Dark Souls if we knew we had the patience to play it
Seriously, From Software's GamesCom trailer is super-exciting, showcasing enormous monsters and a visceral brutality that's unmatched by any other game (outside of maybe God Of War). But then we think back to our time with Demon's Souls and we totally get put off. Indeed, this is one October release that we think we'll..
Hats off to Namco Bandai for doing this whole "we'll-reward-you-for-preordering-our-game" malarkey right
Instead of offloading GameStop with a bunch of download codes for a new piece of ankle armour, Namco Bandai's upgrading all preorders for the upcoming Dark Souls to the collector's edition. Indeed, instead of charging $100 for additional crap no-one wants, they're giving it away for free —..
Namco Bandai's released a new trailer for Dark Souls -- the spiritual successor to PlayStation 3 cult-hit Demon's Souls
The teaser trailer shows very much more of the same, including gigantic bosses, infuriating deaths and that horrible medieval art aesthetic that people genuinely seem to like. [Puts on flame retardant jacket - Ed]. Namco Bandai's holding a big press event in Dubai (!!!) over..
Capcom's announced Monster Hunter Diary G for the PSP
The spin-off title focuses on the franchise's cat-like creatures, the Felynes. Check out the game's debut trailer above. Aside from looking completely bonkers, it reminds us a little of Patapon.
Ok, are we wrong for thinking things are getting a little shady here? Maybe the Sony Defence Force inside of us is taking over, but From Software's Dark Souls just looks
.. shady. When people said "it's the spiritual successor Demon's Souls", we were like, "alright, cool, it won't be exactly the same". But it is. In fact the only reason it isn't is because Sony owns the..
Remember From Software's Project Dark announcement at last year's Tokyo Game Show? Forget the Project name, as the game is now officially called Dark Soul
From Software would also like to remind us that the game has absolutely nothing to do with Demon's Souls. We're really not sure they're kidding anyone. The name change seems to be a way for From Software to get out of PS3 exclusivity. From what..
Demon's Souls is widely considered one of the hardest games ever made
Ever. This guy in Japan, "alternalw", finished the game in 54 minutes and 54 seconds. He's clearly mad, insane and a little bit genius. You can watch his entire playthrough on YouTube. Beware of spoilers. Beware of the insanity. We're going to have a lie down.
There's something weird about Project Dark, the next Demon's Souls-esque project coming out of From Software
Despite the game's exclusivity in Japan, it will be multiplatform in the West. As such, Sony will not be undertaking publishing duties worldwide (as it was assumed they might with Demon's Souls 2). Therefore, the game will not have the title "Demon's Souls" on it. Which is weird,..
What a success story Demon's Souls has become
The game was brought to the West by Atlus (and later Namco Bandai in Europe) when Sony passed up the publishing rights. It's now one of the biggest exclusive titles in the PlayStation 3's line-up. In fact, it's such a big deal that it's earned "Greatest Hits" status in the US and will be repackaged at a lowly $29.99. If you haven't checked it..
The Black Phantom Edition of Demon's Souls is practically sold out everywhere in the UK
That's according to publishers Namco Bandai Partners, who are only aware of a few "dribs and drabs". "I can't give you a number, but what I mean by an 'amazing success' is that all the stock we built of the Black Phantom Edition has sold out (apart from dribs and drabs)," Lee Kirton,..
When Demon's Souls launched, there were warnings scattered everywhere that Atlus could close the game's servers within six months of its release
The game's gone on to become a smash-hit worldwide, and so Atlus has decided to sponsor the servers for an extended period. They've announced that the online portion of the "hardest game ever" will remain online until "at least" March..
Oh 3D Dot Game Heroes
After several brilliant trailers, you're still churning out the goods. Take this rap, designed to help celebrate the launch of the game today. The latest trailer even finds time to parody the classic "your parents help you hook it up" line. Simply wonderful. Buy this game now. (No really, it's rather good). [yo
Perhaps our only complaint with the excellent 3D Dot Game Heroes is that there is no real easy way to share creations in the game's built-in character creator
Until now that is. Atlus has just launched the "Hall Of Heroes" hub, a webpage in which budding Game Hero designers can share their masterpieces with other players. Take "Rad Naner" - a banana wearing sunglasses and riding..
Demon's Souls is finally coming to the UK
The innovative exclusive RPG has been privy to enormous viral exposure since it launched in the US - a refreshing nod that players do still care about experiences rather than marketing. And due to the splash the game has caused in the US, it's finally going to hit the UK next month. Check out the trailer for some footage and review anecdotes. We actually..
PushSquare: bringing you all the UK General Election 2010 news you need
Like these hand-crafted party leaders in pixel form courtesy of 3D Dot Game Heroes. Sure to swing the polls. [And yes, we fully appreciate these look NOTHING like their namesakes - Ed.]</em> It's hard to deny these images are infinitely more exciting than tonight's "debate" is going to be. Innit.
We're not sure whether it would be an exaggeration or not to describe From Software as one of the most important studios thus far in the Playstation 3's life-span
True or not, the consideration is a fantastic compliment to the studio that's green-lit the likes of Demon's Souls and 3D Dot Game Heroes. And it seems like the company are going to stick with the PS3 once again with their next title,..
We suppose if you haven't seen this "Old Spice" commercial, you might not get the latest 3D Dot Game Heroes trailer
Thus, we recommend you hit the link in the previous sentence and come back to us when you've watched the video. Seen it? Awesome isn't it? Ok, now watch the video embedded above. Are you laughing? Thought so. You probably don't need our review to decide if 3D Dot Game Heroes is for..
We told you last week that Demon's Souls was finally getting a Western release in part thanks to Namco Bandai who have taken on publishing responsibilities for the Playstation 3 exclusive
We also told you last week that the game comes with a much needed strategy guide. And in heart-warming news, it's just been announced that said strategy guide has been written by Demon's Souls fans. The guide's..
Namco Bandai has announced that they will be handling publishing duties of Demon's Souls in Europe, and that the game will hit on June 25th
The game will be released exclusively as a special pack called the "Black Phantom Edition", which includes a soundtrack, artbook and strategy guide. The latter being pretty necessary from what we've heard about Demon's Souls' difficulty. Were very..
Ok, you've got us
While From Software's incredible underground hit Demon's Souls was only available as an inport, we could fend off the background noises that told us to get a copy from overseas. But if the game's coming to Europe, we're going to have to play the unique RPG aren't we? Word of a long overdue European Demon's Soul release comes from a German classifications listing pulled up by..
