Mech it happen
That slightly odd sounding open world title from Avalanche Studios, Generation Zero, has been given a release date. The game, which sees you take down mechanical baddies with or without other players, launches for PlayStation 4 in March. It's also got a confirmed budget price point of $39.99/€39.99. Generation Zero was first...
Avalanche Studios has its work cut out right now. Just Cause 4 is out in December, and it's also working alongside id Software on RAGE 2. Oh, and don't forget about Generation Zero, the free roam, co-op, 80s, sci-fi shooter. This was announced during E3 2018 to a lukewarm reception, and it's flown under the radar ever since. This...
An open world co-op shooter
The fine folks at Avalanche Studios are certainly keeping busy. As well as co-developing RAGE 2 with id Software, the studio has just announced Generation Zero, a brand new open world action game heading to PS4 in 2019. Check out the debut trailer above. Taking place in 1980s Sweden, Generation Zero sees you going solo...
Game went gold last week
It's always quite saddening to hear about developers losing their jobs. A reasonably grim reminder that video games aren't just fun and, er, games, layoffs tend to happen after a title's been completed - and that's what's happened with Avalanche Studios. The developer has two offices - one in Sweden, and one in New York...
Sony’s commitment to the humble developer has been pretty consistent over the past couple of months. While it made some major missteps with the PlayStation 3’s architecture, the company’s aiming to reverse those issues with the PlayStation 4. And, according to Avalanche Studios – who’s working on an unannounced next...
Avalanche Studios particularly impressed with Sony's next generation hardware
Linus Blomberg, a leading technical officer at Just Cause 2 developer Avalanche Studios, is seriously excited for the PlayStation 4. In an interview with GamingBolt, the employee praised the platform’s developer-friendly environment and the vision behind the console’s...
Thinking caps, everyone
Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios is working on a “ground breaking” open world action game for Square Enix. For the record, Square Enix published the last two Just Cause titles. What could it possibly all mean? Well, here’s a hint: Square Enix recently registered domain names for Just Cause 4. Perhaps Avalanche’s...
Avalanche Studios may well be hard at work on a top-secret licensed project, but that’s not stopping the Swedish studio from thinking ahead. In a recent interview with Eurogamer.net, company gaffer Christofer Sundberg admitted that the Just Cause series would be a perfect fit for future consoles – including the PlayStation 4. He...
Avalanche Studios is getting ready to raise the curtain on its next title, studio founder Christopher Sundberg has revealed. The title – due to be announced at E3 – will not be a sequel to Renegade Ops or Just Cause, opting to try something new. While the game will be based on a license – widely believed to be Mad Max – Sundberg...
SEGA's announced a fresh dose of DLC for the Avalanche developed isometric blast-em-up, Renegade Ops

Yesterday we posted a report from XBOX World magazine
We should have known better there and then. The report suggested that Just Cause 3 was in development, and due for release next year. Unfortunately, developer Avalanche Studio hasn't got the foggiest idea where the rumours came from. "It's just a rumour and we're not releasing any game in 2012," Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg..
Ready for more ridiculous graphics and terrible accents? Good, because if rumours are to be believed Avalanche is hard at work on a new entry in the Just Cause series
The news comes via XBOX World magazine (sigh, we know), which claims that the game is due for release next year. We'll take a new Just Cause, just less Bolo Santosi this time ta.
SEGA's taken to the PlayStation Blog to showcase Renegade Ops' variety of weapon upgrades
Digital campaigns manager, Mike Kebby, explains that the more you play Avalanche's downloadable shooter, the more scope you'll be given to unlock new abilities. There are three skill trees to choose from, allowing you to customise the game in a way that best...
You really do learn something new every day
For yonks now we believed Just Cause developer, Avalanche, was a subsidiary of Eidos (and latterly Square Enix), but we were obviously completely wrong. The studio's just announced a brand new downloadable project in collaboration with SEGA. The title, Renegade Ops, is a co-operative military vehicular...
We'd have thrown this press-release regarding Cars 2: The Video Game in the recycle bin if it weren't for a little tid-bit about the developer
"Cars 2: The Video Game is created by the same studio that brought you the acclaimed Toy Story 3: The Video Game last year." Cast your mind back to the hazy days of Summer '10 and you might remember...
Just Cause developers, Avalanche, have told Eurogamer that they'll be ready to announce their new title "in a month or so"
Top noggin Christofer Sundberg told the site that the game would be a PSN release, emphasising that the studio has two bigger projects in development that are still a way off. Our PSN project will be announced in a month or...
When Just Cause 2 shot straight to number one in the British sales charts this week, we bet you didn't expect there to be a Just Cause 3, did you? You did? Oh
Well, that's good then, because Avalanche has claimed that people shouldnt be surprised to see a Just Cause 3. I think there are a lot of connections with [Avalanche and] the IP, Avalanche's boss Christofer Sundberg said, and so..
Given that Just Cause 2 is a game devoted to a huge open-world setting, there had to be a few Easter Eggs in there right? Thankfully yes
LOST fans have been literally dancing in excitement over having discovered the mysterious hatch from the television series. We won't pertain to have any knowledge of the LOST franchise but we can imagine how this sort of thing is cool. Remember, if you're..
At first we were a little disappointed with Just Cause 2
It's a game we've been following closely here at PushSquare, namely because the original was somewhat of a flawed gem. Getting hands-on time with the recently released demo is the first time we've had a chance to play Just Cause 2 here at PushSquare towers, and honestly it didn't leave the...
You know what, we've called it a hundred time but there's no harm in calling it again: Just Cause 2 is definitely going to be this year's sleeper hit
Do many people care about the game at this point? It seems not. But you know what, you absolutely should. And if you want a reason, watch the trailer embedded above.
In what can only be described as a master-class of viral marketing, the latest Just Cause 2 trailer is fully interactive
Kinda. It uses YouTubes video link tools to create the kind of trailer you want, based on your play type. It also helps showcase the depth of Just Cause 2's gameplay variety. Game is still flying under the radar, but looks even better each time we see it. Start your trailer here..

However, if you preorder now (details through here) you'll get all the following goodies for free: Agency Hovercraft: The ultimate in amphibious transport, the Agency Hovercraft is the most flexible form of transport in the game. Equipped with a turret-mounted grenade launcher, youre..
Website visitor statistics tell us where public interest lies
For example, a post about Modern Warfare 2 sends the crowds running. But no matter how positive we are about Just Cause 2, no one seems to care. We're sorry Avalanche, but that's just what we're seeing on our end. Still, that's not indicative of the game's quality at all. Hence our sleeper hit comment. Sure, it's a bit too early to be..
We've not been short on our admiration for Just Cause 2, so imagine the party in the office as we type these words: Just Cause 2 is coming in March
Just to further populate the most ridiculous release schedule, like, ever, Square Enix announced that Avalanche's Just Cause 2 will hit Playstation 3 on the 23rd and 26th of March in the US and Europe respectively. It still feels weird talking about..
We've seen quite a bit of Just Cause 2's grappling hook in various trailers over the past few months, but the latest mini-documentary from developers Avalance really goes into detail with the mechanic
For example, you can totally tether an enemy to another enemy, sticking them together and giving you an advantage. You can also hook enemies up to helicopters, or even whip people with it. It's just..
We think Just Cause 2 looks fantastic
It's obviously a game that doesn't take itself too seriously, but it's all the better for that. In this trailer you'll see the protagonist leap from a sky scraper, activate a parachute at the last second, grapple hook onto a speed boat, and arm a machine gun. Pencil this down as a sleeper hit. It's like an even more awesome version of Bionic Commando.
One game that we didn't expect to hear so much about after E3 as we have done is Just Cause 2
People appear to have fallen in love with the game. And it's not hard to see why watching this developer walkthrough. The gameplay seems really exciting; combining elements of stunt action and gunplay. This game looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.
