Red Dead Redemption Patch 1.03 60FPS

Update: It's been confirmed that the PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption only offers the new 60fps setting when played on PS5 via backwards compatibility.

(Thanks to everyone who contacted us in order to confirm this.)

Original Story: The PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption has just received a new patch. Weighing in at only a few hundred MB, update 1.03's official description simply says "General bug fixes, stability fixes, and improvements". However, if you go ahead and boot the game up, you'll immediately notice that a 60 frames-per-second option has been added. You can also toggle it on and off in the pause menu.

It's arrived out of nowhere, but it's a welcome improvement for what has generally been regarded as a basic β€” and overpriced β€” remaster. We've taken the game for a quick test drive on PS5 via backwards compatibility, and we can confirm that it seems to run buttery smooth. Hurrah!

Having said all that, we don't know if this option is also available on base PS4 and PS4 Pro. We'll be sure to update this article once we have a clear answer.
