Here's proof that not every wave of PS5 stock released by retailers is going to scalpers: the games are seeing a huge increase in sales as and when the console is made available across the United Kingdom. This latest sales chart for the island documents that as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales experiences a huge 264 per cent increase in sales, taking it up to fourth place. Demon's Souls then outdid the web-slinger with a 401 per cent jump in physical transactions, which saw it claim 17th. Nintendo Switch titles still make up a large portion of the top 10, but it's clear that when the PS5 can actually be bought, its games prove popular too.
The only new entry as far as PlayStation 4 games are concerned is Little Nightmares II, which scares the competition silly in seventh place. FIFA 21 jumps up five positions into third, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War slips to sixth, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla is up one in ninth.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 13th February 2021
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- FIFA 21
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Little Nightmares II
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla
- Ring Fit Adventure

I see you are running adverts for Stockx who seem to be selling scalped PS5's. I know you probably don't have much control over what adverts appear, but perhaps given the current circumstances, you should monitor things more closely. I always set Push Square as a trusted website to help you with the ad revenue. Since you are now supporting scalpers I've I re-enabled Ghostery ad blocker.
Do my eyes decieve me... GTA V isn't in the Top 10?
It could also be that the scalpers are turning the stock over very quickly to actual consumers, who are then buying new games to go with their shiny £800 PS5.
Nice, I hope sony deal with their stock problems soon
@nathanSF I've never seen these ads before, they are likely through Google Ad Exchange which are personalised to you. I can see what you are saying though, although there are plenty of other sites selling consoles such as eBay and Facebook, I'm not sure we would block those. That being said I'm going to look into blocking StockX as it seems they are more dedicated to this kind of thing.
@antdickens That's great. Much respect. Google should know I already have a PS5 so there must be something wrong with their algorithm.
I wonder what old games new Series X owners are playing. Exciting times 😁
@nathanSF nearly 100% of ads I see online is stuff I just bought and definitely don't need more of
Amazing really. More units sold = more games sold. It’s why I’m not sure why Sony and Xbox haven’t been more proactive in making sure units get to the hands of actual gamers and not scalpers. It’s hurting them more than anyone
@Hyperluminal - I don't own a Series X but I'm playing The Falconeer and The Medium on my Series S. Really enjoying both while giving zero sh*ts about how new they are. Also playing Forza Horizon 4 which is hands down the best arcade racer on any platform.
@Hyperluminal Are you aware that the PS5 has as many exclusive games in the top 10 as Series X does? Nintendo are the only ones who can look at that top 10 and be smug.
@dav2612 i didn't know that. Which xbox game in the top 10 is exclusive to xbox?
@Shigurui oh yeah, Forza is great on PC but I think iRacing is better. Enjoy mate.
@Hyperluminal there is one ps5 exclusive on top ten. Hardly a massive deal. All the Xbox owners get GPU for under £4 a month if they are sensible and play the exclusives on there.
Xbox is a very different business model these days
@Stocksy it certainly is, I agree. Not one I personally like, I much prefer Sony's and Nintendo's traditional idea of console generations.
By the way...Super Mario 3D World is down to 34.99 at Currys
https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gaming/console-gaming/games/nintendo-switch-super-mario-3d-world-bowser-s-fury-10218544-pdt.html?awc=1599_1613391667_09216ab13ccfe70ad0c86f28e0cb54ac&srcid=369&xtor=AL-1&cmpid=aff~HotUKDeals~Discount%20Code~47868~Pepper+Deals+Ltd
@Hyperluminal if agree if Sony had launched this gen with a proper raft of launch titles but I’m not seeing much difference between Xbox and Sony except Xbox have a better subscription service. Spiderman is last gen DLC at almost full price - a remake and sack boy.
Not really a traditional console launch.
Nintendo I agree are smashing it.
@Atreus97 Do you know anyone who's bought a scalped PS5?
They're not as numerous as the headlines would suggest.
Great to know. Eventually I'll pick up a PS5, until then, much to play on PS4 at the moment, and I'm loving Sackboy on the PS4. Not really knowing how much of a difference this game is on PS4 compared to PS5, but would definitely play it again on the PS5 eventually.
@Hyperluminal There isn't an exclusive Series X game in the top 10. But that was my point, there are no PS5 exclusives in the top 10 either - Miles Morales is available on PS4.
@Stocksy Sony's launch of PS5 was better than most other generations. Astro was given free as was Bugsnax, and there was Spider-Man, Demon Souls and Sackboy. Plus The Pathway and Godfall. All console exclusives. Pretty good in my book. I'd rather that than nothing at all 😊
Nintendo though...brilliant. They do things their way and are great.
@dav2612 ohhh hahaha fair enough. You're splitting hairs but that's ok. 👍
@solocapers
Yeah my brother in law bought one before Xmas for his very demanding sons. That was £850
Also a friend of mine bought one from a scalper then sold it on for a decent profit
PS5's seem to be at ~£700 on ebay now. That's a big enough price gap that we're still going to need quite a lot more stock before people can buy it easily in shops.
And Ratchet & Clank is going to push demand up again in June. I was hoping I could get one in time for Mass Effect Legendary Edition, but it's not looking good.
I've seen some people online admitting to buying "2nd hand" PS5's. Definitely many more who bought theirs from legit retailers or Sony directly though.
@ThomasHL MELE is a PS4 release though.
@Stocksy Not even close.
@Atreus97 surprised to hear that especially with buying from a scalper and still making profit.
In the whole though they're a minority.
Your always gonna have folk sticking new products that are in demand on eBay etc for profit.
@solocapers true. I've recently scalped all the new model Rampant Rabbits and lonely housewives are filling the forums with complaints about it 😆😆
@Playstation Totally agree, I've really enjoyed Sackboy so hope more people also grab a copy. Sumo definitely deserve some credit for making a great 3D platformer. In fact we enjoyed it so much that it's got us back into playing LittleBigPlanet 3 which is actually way better than I remember.
@Stocksy "It’s why I’m not sure why Sony and Xbox haven’t been more proactive in making sure units get to the hands of actual gamers and not scalpers. It’s hurting them more than anyone"
Sadly I disagree. Scalpers aren't stockpiling them, this would go against the whole point of scalping. The consoles ARE getting into the hands of gamers - just at an elevated price.
It could be argued that those gamers willing to spend over the odds for the console might also be willing, and have the means, to spend a lot of money on games. Unlike patient gamers like me, that managed to get a PS5 at launch, but won't spend £70 on most new games.
Stock is not going to scalpers?
“… the games are seeing a huge increase in sales…”
this means, the scalpers’ business is very good. 😆😆😆
@Voltan Yes, but if I'm going to replay a trilogy of games, I don't want to replay the second-best version of that trilogy.
@Playstation I bought it last week and am really enjoying it so far. I’m playing it on PS4 (Pro) though as I haven’t been able to get a PS5 yet, but it still looks great!
It can't rise from its ash if it lacks the mustache.
I bought digital copy of Demon's souls the next day my brand new console arrived, that's true.
@Hyperluminal hahaha!
Great to see Spiderman back in the mix. Really enjoyed that one. Also think Sackboy is a great platformer. The sound on this game is great and the whole game seems designed to make you smile and tap your feet.
I will be buying Demons Soul once its about £15.
@Shigurui I'm playing the Medium at the moment too but I'm a little disappointed so far. Not sure why. It really feels like a last gen game when supposedly its not possible to put out on last gen consoles. Think it may be the sluggish controls makes it feel like an old Resi game, especially with the fixed camera angles.
I've actually started Ori and been hooked with that so lost interest in Medium for now. Will return later I'm sure as on paper its a game I should love.
Haven't tried Forza yet. Not a massive racing fan but will try it considering its in my GPU subscription.
We’re barely 3 months into this consoles lifecycle and we have already gotten a years+ worth of great games. Yes, some can be played on current and last gen and some are cross platform but still amazing games! Top 5 PS5 games so far:
5. Demon Souls
4. Valhalla
3. Sackboy
2. Miles Morales
1. Immortals Fenyx Rising
My # 1 is the most fun I’ve had playing since, well.... Ghost of Tsushima! But with a much more lighthearted story. Think BOTW but more enjoyable!
Not sure why everyone is praising Nintendo? First, I own a Switch and play it. Second, why does Sony take crap about Demon Souls being a remake when that’s all Nintendo has put out lately. Nintendo has had an amazing year in sales but a horrible year in bringing out games!!!! Sony has had one of the best years (2020) in gaming history and it only looks like it’s going to get better.
@StonyKL - I'm a fan of walking sims, Everybody's Gone, Ethan Carter etc. The Medium is basically a walking sim with light puzzle elements which appeals to me. I definitely get why some people are underwhelmed by it though.
As for FH4 it's just a really fun pick up and play arcade racer that doesn't take itself seriously at all. Something Sony systems are badly in need of and haven't had since the Motorstorm games on PS3.
@Culjoseth Is anyone praising Nintendo for the output? Hard to ignore the fact that 50% of the top 10 are exclusive to the Switch.
Not so sure I'd agree that 2020 was Sony's best year but that is just a personal perspective - I've had better on the Sony front.
@dav2612 Are you trying to troll or just stupid? You specifically called Miles Morales not a PS5 exclusive then praise Nintendo’s exclusives like Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World are not low effort wii u ports of years old games.
If you take away the switch games that are on the Wii U then the consoles output is pretty pathetic in 3.5 years.
@Dekutheevilclown Where did I praise the output from Nintendo? Where? Their sales figures and the dominance of the top 10 yes, output no. I said they should be smug. That is not praise. 50% of the top 10 are Nintendo exclusives without a great deal of effort.
I'm not stupid or a troll so kindly refrain from those suggestions and read what I am saying and in the context it is said. I responded to someone having a dig at the Series X output so I pointed out that there are also no PS5 exclusives in the top 10. Simply a fact.
The Nintendo output might very well be "pathetic" but it is clearly selling and ultimately that is what Nintendo, Sony, MS and any games publisher cares about.
@nathanSF I've been informed by our ads partner that stockx should now be blocked across the network. Cheers!
@dav2612 You said the top 10 was half switch exclusives, that’s clearly not true.
If the only thing that matters is sales then how about this:
PSN(web store + subscription services)generated more revenue for Sony in 2018, 2019 and 2020 than Nintendo generated as an entire Company(hardware, digital + Physical software, dlc, peripherals, merchandise etc.)in those years!
Don’t let some software chart from one country fool you. Nintendo dominates physical sales charts, but digital is where all the money is.
@Dekutheevilclown That version of Super Mario 3D World is exclusive to Switch. That version of Animal Crossing is exclusive to Switch. That version of MK8 is exclusive to Switch. Minecraft is multi-platform but it is the Switch version in charts. Ring Fit is exclusive to Switch. 5 games, 50% of a top 10. Take out Minecraft out on a technicality and the Switch still has 4 more exclusives than any other individual platform.
My comments are based on the top 10 in this article. I wasn't seeing the bragging rights over Series X based on the current charts and that is all my comment was based on.
@dav2612 Your definition of exclusive is certainly creative
@Dekutheevilclown Not all new IP but you cannot get those editions on any other platform. Even ignoring ports, Ring Fit and Bowser's Fury are 100% exclusive which is still more than any other individual platform. Which takes me back to my point about not seeing the bragging rights at the moment.
Would you have an issue with me calling Demon's Souls exclusive? I imagine not.
FIFA, Miles Morales, Call of Duty, Little Nightmares II & Valhalla are all on the PS4 (plus other platforms) so how do we know what's shifting what and on what platform? The only PS5 exclusive is Demon's Souls which is only at 17.
Could be a load of PS4 purchases because those trying to get a PS5 are fed up of trying?
@dav2612 The amount of praise on here for Nintendo is palpable! They released hardly anything new all year. They are selling like hot cakes with old games as the selling point. It’s crazy!
Also, the only other year that competes with Sony’s amazing 2020 is their amazing 2018!
