It feels like an age since we had a fresh look at The Last of Us: Part II, but as it happens, we might just get another glimpse of Naughty Dog's sequel at some point soon. According to @Gaming_Forte on Twitter, the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive was shown to a select audience at this year's GameStop Managers Conference. The showing has been described as "a vertical slice" of gameplay.

Naturally, not much more can be said about what was presented. However, when asked whether the gameplay will be made public, @Gaming_Forte replied "soon". Hopefully soon means, y'know, soon, and not months down the line. Again, it's been a long time since we saw The Last of Us: Part II in action.

I suspect that this is intended for retailers so they can do marketing and production deals.
Bearing in mind that Outbreak day is in a month's time which if the game is indeed coming early 2020 then it would be the perfect time to announce it.
Can't wait to see more of TLOU Pt. II
@AdamNovice February 2020 ? May or June are not considering early 2019.. Naughty Dog start do marketing campigan next month during Outbreak Day ??
@Playstation5 That is the rumour, wouldn't be a bad time to release it between FF VII and Cyberpunk 2077
Release Date:
2019 (USA)
2019 (UK/EU)
What's more likely to come out in 2019, TLoU2 or BG&E2?
Beyond Good & Evil 2 PS4
Ubisoft
2019 (UK/EU)
2019 (NA)
Assuming this ins't releasing in 2019 - b/c I don't see where it would fit in w/ Shenmue 3, Death Stranding and Doom - where is it going to fit in in early 2020 with -
Gods & Monsters 2/25
FF7R 3/3
W_D Legions 3/6
Cyberpunk 4/16
Marvel's Avengers 5/15
I don't think TLoU2 has anything to fear from any 1 of those - well maybe Cyberpunk and FF7R - but the spring is looking nearly as crowded as the fall. And Ghosts of Tsushima needs a date as well. Though that always looked like a dual release w/ PS Next to me anyway.
It’s all very Marvel’s Avengers isn’t it lol. Footage exists, but will they show us it?
Finally we get to see the clickers! I mean I love the human interactions as well, but the fungi zombies are the star of the show to me. They are what keep the world bleak and frightening.
@rjejr you forgot about Dying Light 2 also coming out in Spring 2020
@Playstation5 Dying Light 2 barely registers in my brain even reading the title, the ones I listed are the big ones, to me, off the top of my head (though I did look up the dates).
Even thinking about it DL2 seems more like an Xbox game to me, but I really don't know enough about it to even know what consoles it's on. If it has been on here a lot I must have skipped over them.
There are always games, but Cyberpunk and FF7R seem like really big ones. If I were Ubisoft I'd consider delaying WD Legion to May or June. Maybe they're waiting like the rest of us for TLOU2 to be dated.
Tbh I really don’t want to see anymore, all I want is box art and a release date. I think they showed too much of uncharted 4 back in the day, especially the chase sequence. All that being said I’m sure I’ll not be able to resist watching it since we’ve heard and seen nothing concrete for over a year
I really hope they don't turn it into another s***** open world rpg like every other franchise
Language please! - Quintumply
Honestly I'm not too fussed about seeing any more of the game right now. I'm already sold and would be perfectly happy to just wait for release at this point.
That said, I'll probably watch another trailer or gameplay demo if they do put one out.
What is this game of which you speak? Never heard of it...
No way that TLOU2 is releasing in 2019, we are basically in September now and Sony will definitely want to announce the release date far enough ahead for proper marketing etc. I could honestly see it getting pushed to the fall of 2020, much like part one that was basically the swan song of the PS3 and released not many months before the PS4 hit the shelves. That worked out beautifully for them last time and I would bet good money they will follow a very similar template. Timing is everything with games like this, especially one that many will consider the pinnacle of the generation.
For me, the PS4 is already a huge success, but for it to reach truly legendary console status in my eyes, it will need TLOU2, CP2077, and one more heavy hitter to cement itself as one of the top 3 gaming consoles ever made. Maybe that 3rd game is Ghosts of Tsushima, but I do think it needs two more absolute killer 1st party games(including TLOU2) to enter the realm of legendary status.
