Metro: Exodus has a handful of notable issues on PS4, one of the most common complaints being that the controls are rather unresponsive and stiff at times. Some players reckon that input lag is definitely a factor, throwing off aim and giving the game a sluggish feel overall.
Thankfully, developer 4A Games is looking to address the problem with an upcoming hotfix, and then a full patch. The former is expected to deploy next week.
Here's the official word from the studio on the subject: "We are aware that some players are reporting that the controls on console don't 'feel' right, and we are investigating these reports as a priority. Metro: Exodus is by design not a 'twitch shooter' but gamepad controls should feel responsive, accurate and free from excessive lag / latency. We are testing a range of tweaks and adding a new sensitivity preset that will be deployed in the hotfix, and we will further refine these in the following patch."

Completely agree, the game feels stiff and it feels like I'm dragging a ball and chain around when walking. It's very offputting, especially when you're trying to walk around and explore an area...
@SuperJoon that’s not a bug or anything that’s how they designed the game. You’re carrying all this equipment and armor so they are going for a realistic movement system. It’s kind of like killzone 2 before crybaby cod kids cried and they ruined the movement for 3
@dark_knightmare2 Come on now, Killzone 2 was weighty but it didn't have noticeable input lag that even the developer is admitting to.
@dark_knightmare2 Never said it was a bug.... I agreed with the article and gave my thoughts on the movement....
I hope they sort out the issue of constantly getting snagged on anything a few cm off the ground. Pick your feet up when you walk, Artyom!
I just finished this last night and thought it was a brilliant game, even the best game released so far this year imo. The only thing that bothered me was it constantly crashed, it crashed at least twice on each day I played it and I was only playing for a few hours on each of those days. This was on XB1 X, not sure if it affects PS4.
@MaccaMUFC only about 5 hours in but not had this issue. Did you ever uninstall and re-install the game?
It doesn't suffer from input lag. It's the massive difference in sensitivity between the X and y axis that's causing the issue.
Wwooooohhhhoooooo!!!! Oh thaaaank you!! Like someone mentioned its the X Y sensitivity difference and also the huge deadzone. Only other thing that almost wrecks the game for me is the actual movement and getting around the environment, can sometimes get stuck on the smallest of obstacles, ie a TINY ledge or bump in the ground. Things you shouldnt have to even consider when traversing the world. Otherwise the game is good
I just beat this game and it was absolutely stellar. The game did have flaws though. For me, it is a game that has/had the potential to be a masterpiece yet is held down by a few issues. some of which I think will be fixed in the upcoming patch(es). For one, the gunplay. There are many times I have my shot lined up on a guy, particularly a headshot, and it simply doesn't register. Another problem is the traversal. It's not bad, but you tend to get stuck on silly objects throughout the world. It's not entirely smooth. And lastly, conversations. It's a shame that Artoym doesn't speak in the game. That really doesn't make sense to me. The conversations with your comrades and your wife, Anna (who, my god, is the best wife in the world) would hold much more weight. Moreover, I think it would have made the conversations flow more smoothly. I didn't like listening to someone talk and after a sentence or two, it would go silent for about five seconds before the person started speaking again; then, they would say something as if they were "replying" to your silent character. Other than those issues, which really aren't that major, the game is a masterpiece.
@ShogunRok it must not be widespread because I’ve put twenty plus hours into metro exodus and I haven’t had no problem pointing at and shooting whatever I need to. I play mostly stealth though so maybe I don’t have enough encounters to feel it or notice it.
I felt there was way more problems then just bugs... But the first hour of gameplay gave 8 bugs.
