Assassin's Creed Odyssey has been out for about a week now on PlayStation 4. The open world title was met with high praise from critics, and Ubisoft has said that the game's already outperformed its current-gen predecessors. Safe to say that it's been looking good for the gigantic Greek adventure.
As always, though, we want to know what you lot think. How much have you played? How does it compare to past Assassin's Creed titles? Is it as good as the reviews say? Vote in our polls, and then have your say in the comments section below.

A quick question for feedback on community polls, do you lot want one of these articles for every big game? Let us know!
@ShogunRok sure, I don’t see why not. Though, I can’t say much about this game since I haven’t played it. If you guys do this for the Resident Evil 2 remake then I’m definitely on board.
I'll let you know when it goes on sale.
@ShogunRok yes.
This AC is the best one after the classic AC2.
I just love choosing the "i haven't played it" option in every question😅
I haven't played it yet but I'm looking forward to when I do. I really enjoyed Origins, even though Bayek was quite forgettable, but exploring the gorgeous map was the star.
It's a nice little romp to be sure, but a horrible AC game. I like many of the ideas they have but honestly I think this is the game to put me off the series for good.
it is great game ever i playing.. story is good.. gameplay is fun.. some missions are repetitive and very good graphic ever i seen.. this game is helping time go faster until Red Dead Redemption 2 launch at midnight on October 26 but it unlock for my time is 11pm on October 25.. i am playing this game for around 13 hours now
@Neolit Dude - this is the internet... of course we are going to do this. DOWN WITH AC AND MTX
Haven't played it, and probably will never get round to it. Origins was fine, Odyssey is too similar and too soon, Ubi never learn.
I look forward to playing it but I know it'll be $30-$35 come Black Friday so I'll wait for that or possibly just ask for it for Christmas as I did with Origins last year. I still have plenty to do in Origins as far as side quests and tombs and I'm interested in the DLC for it but I haven't touched it since probably February or March.
I really enjoy it. Great combat system and so far the quests are good and varied (the bear scrotum.... lol).
I couldn't stand the old combat system in AC so for me Origin and Odissey have been a massive upgrade.
@AFCC I hope it has better controls i hated the controls on AC2. 😁
@Spectra Isnt Generations just a upgrade or a remaster from the old one?
I haven't played it!
@Medic_alert Welp that is what I said. I'm very rarely on the "they should have spun this off as their own thing" camp but at this point it doesn't feel like AC (disclaimer: I have not played origins yet) anymore. The movement feels stunted (a lot of it looks prettier) and assassinations feel limited to focus more on the brawler aspect of the combat. Which I get it, it matches the time period and the character overall but I'm like...where is AC? This is coming from a woman that sucks at most stealth games but is pretty good at taking out a stronghold in AC and I attribute a lot of that to the gameplay system, the maneuverability and the versatility.
That being said again I like a lot of the aspects (the dialogue select could go imo but that is because I want to play AC rather than whatever we want to call the current state of western RPGs that mass effect popularized ...and butchered) I think the conquest battles are fun. I still hate the naval battles but I don't think that will change in my lifetime. I love the mercenary system even when it is inconvenient (can we fight later please, I'm trying to quietly kill everyone in this fort). The world gives off some botw exploration for me which is good since I dropped 250 hours into that game (still not done).
However so far (I'm only about 20 hours in) and playing this feels off. The storytelling is not as tight so far and it is putting so far too much emphasis on the singular motivation of the player character which works for an RPG but really mutes the AC conflict imo. I've seen a few franchises that I like take that turn in their narrative and reach critical acclaim but became the most uninteresting entries in their franchises for me, so my spidersense is tingling.
I'll stick this out to the end of course but between this game, and the state of the AC universe due to the comics. I think I'm done. Again, the game itself isnt bad on its own, but as an AC game or an engaging narrative...so far I'm pretty bummed. I do like Kassandra's voice acting though and I'm having more than enough fun making Athens and Sparta lose control of a region every 5 seconds lol.
Ya I like these kind of polls, provides a kind of litmus test for how the community feels about the game.
On the game itself, I’m really enjoying it despite the fact I couldn’t get into Origins and left it halfway through. This world of Greece is far more interesting to explore for me possibly, I absolutely love the Mythological elements in the game, Kassandras voice actress is brilliant and the writing has been very good so far, the combat is really enjoyable too.
I will say that there is a lot of fluff and very shallow mechanics/ concepts in the game though, the black quest markers are really generic quests that are easily ignored, the whole mercenary system is really under developed in my opinion, it’s really just a facade for a generic enemy generator.
Overall though the main quests plus the designed quests have been very good and the loot system is very fun
I still prefer the older games and the "typical" gameplay format; AC 2, Brotherhood, Unity, Syndicate ... but I also like these new ones a great deal. The locations are the main attraction for me though, with the latest two. The RPG and choice elements are nice to have, but I would have been fine without them. My #1 game shifts between Black Flag, AC2 or Brotherhood.
@ShogunRok yes please i love doing polls, i like finding out other people's opinions
@ShogunRok I would love articles like this!
Most of us answered haven't played it to all the questions and therefore wasted our time. XD
metacritic has odyssey as the fifth best in the series (after II, brotherhood, III and black flag). didn't think much of origins, and that was after giving the series a wide birth since revelations.. II and brotherhood were the only ones i finished.
@ShogunRok I think that would be fun. I also think it would be fun to occasionally have a round-up article showing what we thought of a few of the last games we've polled.
I would rate this (not an)AC game as deserving of an "excellent" score, but wouldn't go so far as to put it forward as a GOTY contender given the high level of competition it's already had this year from GoW (my personal GOTY thus far), S-M, and imo DQXI, not to mention RDR2 (provided it's as epic as I'm expecting it to be! Haha, it had better be!) I am absolutely loving this game though, and appreciate the added RPG elements and the return of naval combat (Black Flag and Rogue probably my favourites), but it's still formulaicly another Ubisoft game.
@ShogunRok yes, absolutely!
@Flaming_Kaiser they are different but I think they are very accessible!
"Here are 15 turds. Pick your favourite!"
I dunno, I guess I like the one with all the bugs, towers and annoying gameplay mechanics the most.
@ShogunRok Great idea, yes please!
@ShogunRok Yez
A fun serviceable 8/10 game, but I consider it a spin-off of AC with reused assets. Like what they did with AC: Brotherhood.
Wow everything I voted for is winning
Origins looked good but odessey with it's ancient Greek setting (huge fan as a kid), is the one to get me back to the series. I Played the first one and loved creeping around Damascus. Played an hour of syndicate and thought it was utter garbage. I'll pick up odessey in a sale next year and judge myself.
Rather not play a game infested with MTX. Like 99% of Ubisoft games, this'll be a hard pass.
Awesome game, loving my time with it.
And the game is not infested with microtransactions lol actually play it & see for yourself, don't just be a sheep.
I've never played an AC game. None of them really appealed to me for whatever reason. But this one looks great and I'm planning on getting it soon.
@AFCC The first two made me so annoyed i sold them the future stuff made it even worse. 😜
@R1spam Really i loved it especially Evie Frye.
assassins greed oddity
@ShogunRok Yeah I think it would be a good idea. Personally I don't play that many games so soon after they've released but for everyone it be cool.
I think it would also be neat if you could show how many people have voted, just something I'm intrested in seeing.
@Flaming_Kaiser thought I would love Victorian London but just didn't think very much of it at all. I had just finished shadow of mordor before it and couldn't get over how much of a better assassins creed game it was! Controls for me for syndicate were v clunky (why is everything mapped to O button) and I didn't warm to jacob. Only ps4 game I've bought that I've outright given up on. The game gets a lot of love from fans of the series so I get my opinion isn't shared and glad you liked it 😀
I wish they would drop the assassins creed name and its annoying legacy and just make a game about spartans/pirates/greek/ninjas. At the end of the day it is now still an AC game and I cant be bothered with those. Climbing towers, poor combat and the animus nonsense
I'm just puzzled why the I haven't played it has a different percentage for each question, could some people not be bothered to answer all of them? 😆
The problem I have is the same I have had with every assassins creed game ever. It keeps my interest for 15-20 hours then it starts to lose it. I think I'm ready to sell it now. Good job I used my head this time and didn't redeem my season pass as I will sell that seperately too.
Been playing it. Not the best in the series (Black Flag still takes the cake) but amazing game nonetheless.
I've almost spent 100h with this game and still can't stop playing it. In Origins I only spent 109h getting everything to 100% incl. DLC.
@Flaming_Kaiser The first two ac games?!
@R1spam I just Platinumed it but those collectables i rather have them put in some more story. And rating the activities.... 😑
Still Evie Frye is a awsome character. 😁
Jacob was not bad but nothing special either.
