While it was Cinematic Mode that many of you were asking about in our PlayStation VR review, we received a lot of queries about wireless headphones, too. It seems that many of you have been pondering whether your cans will be compatible with Sony's virtual reality mask – particularly the popular PlayStation Gold Wireless 2.0 headsets – and the simple answer is that any muffs will work, as long as they're connected using a 3.5mm jack.

The reason that you need to plug your headphones in is because the Processing Unit renders all of the 3D audio, and it doesn't have any USB slots or anything like that. As such, in order to experience PlayStation VR at its best – and the 3D audio really is a key component – then you're going to want to plug your headphones into the headset itself. This is all elegantly handled, as the jack clips into a little control unit on the cable that plugs into the Processing Unit.

While it may sound like a bit of a headache, the reality is that PlayStation VR is fully wired anyway, so the extra cable doesn't really get in the way. You do get a pair of headphones bundled with the device if you don't have any, so don't worry if you don't have anything compatible right now. It is worth pointing out, however, that the aforementioned PlayStation Gold Wireless 2.0 headphones do come bundled with the cable that you'll need to get them working with PlayStation VR.

Happy days, eh?
