Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 may have a handful of grazes fresh from its somewhat disastrous debut, but developer Robomodo has finally got around to updating the release. A brand new patch is available on the PlayStation 4 right now which promises updated "gameplay mechanics" and "improved textures". There's no word on any specific bug fixes, though.
To be fair to the beleaguered studio, it's added a lot of content as part of this whopping 7.8GB update. For starters, there are two new levels – Underground and Wild West – as well as all-new character campaigns. It makes us wonder if this was originally planned as DLC, but Activision decided to give it away due to the poor critical response to the main game.
We've included all of the patch notes below. We actually didn't think that Tony Hawk's latest was quite as awful as everyone else, but our review made pretty clear that it's far from a great game. Have you tried out the update yet? Are you pleased with the improvements – or has this release still got a long way to go? Bail out in the comments section below.

The reason this game exists is so obvious.
I will say, after trying out the patch a solid amount, a ton of the issues I've experienced during the time it was reviewed has been fixed. Grinding works precisely as it should, the Slam mechanic (which I thought worked quite well) is now an option to activate by double-tapping grind instead of automatically happening when trying to grind, the framerate had been optimized much more to stay closer to the 60 FPS (especially on the horrific Astroid Belt level which now also works really well). Even the UI and online connectivity is vastly smoother. Oh, and the Ninja Turtles added as characters? Yes please! I will say that the patch update basically fixes a large amount of issues it had and is significantly better for it. Anyone who was on the fence about it should definitely give it a go now, even at the $25 price it's going for at Best Buy in the US.
@Glacier928 That's good to hear. It's £25 on the UK PS Store, but that's still too high for me I think. I'll bite at £15 or so.
I feel a bit sorry for Tyler, the Creator for being involved in this.
Once it's patched I'm still thinking of getting this at some point. Just not now as there's a good few games I need to finish.
The question remains: why the hell didn't they just do all that optimisation for launch?
@get2sammyb - I would just wait. This game screams PS+.
I will bite at £10-£15, long as its functioning better. Maybe you guys can do a re-review with the patches added?
