Dead or Alive is fundamentally a fighting franchise, but the property is perhaps more famous for its beach-based spin-offs. Those of you with particularly long memories may recall Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball on the Xbox, which kitted out its cast in teensy bikinis and tasked them with playing everyone's favourite Olympic game on sparkling sands. A sequel, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, was later released on the Xbox 360 which added jet-skis and other mini-games to the mix. And then, of course, there was the voyeuristic PlayStation Portable entry, Dead or Alive Paradise.
But you may need to brace yourself, as it sounds like a new instalment is in the works. Speaking during a fan fest overnight, series producer Yosuke Hayashi admitted that Team Ninja has just started production on a brand new idyllic adventure. Platforms are unannounced at this point, but given the buzz surrounding Bandai Namco's similar Summer Lesson, we'll be surprised if it isn't compatible with the PlayStation 4's forthcoming Project Morpheus headset. And we'll be even more shocked if it actually makes its way to the West – after all, we can already taste the controversy that this is inevitably going to create.
Update (23:30PM BST): As expected, Team Ninja doesn't appear to be planning a Western release of this new Dead or Alive Xtreme title. Writing on Facebook, it said: "We announced DOAX3 (Working Title) today, but it will be made exclusively for Japan and Asian market." Good thing the PS4's region-free, eh?

Gulp!
You mean a new Boing or Bounce.
I've always said a DOA extreme title would be morpheus' killer app
Updated the article. Sounds like this won't be coming to the West.
I mean if the games were good I'd be bummed out but I tried one and was got bored quickly enough.
@get2sammyb
That sucks, but it's weird that they wouldn't even consider a digital release, given DOA is more popular than ever, and they can make lots of money even from a small instal base by selling DLC swimsuits
Don't you mean Boobs Are Alive?
Guess I was the only one that played it (on the first Xbox) and kinda liked it....it was a fun pick up and play for an hour now and then.
Wouldn't be surprised if it got a western release eventually though....
I hope there are plans for a DOA6.
Suck it American & ur feminazism on gaming... No DOAX3 for you!
