Wondered how that limited edition Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PlayStation 4 looks in the flesh? Konami has released a video showing off the Diamond Dogs branded gun metal and rust coloured box, and it definitely looks classier close-up. We're particularly fond of the limited edition DualShock 4, which should be sold separately if Sony has any sense.

The console's currently confirmed for Japan and Europe, but no word on North America yet – unless the platform holder commented while this author was busy sunning himself last week. One thing worth noting in this video are the buttons on the front of the unit, which have been introduced as part of the revised PS4 model that launched in Japan fairly recently.

I do like the colour scheme of the console but I am not so keen on the controller or all the MGS text/logo's either. I know its because of the game but I find it cheapens and dates the console.
As someone who only buys 'black' as it co-ordinates with all my other electrical equipment, I would have been tempted to buy this though if I didn't already own a PS4 and it didn't have the MGSv branding as I like the colour scheme - It wouldn't look out of place in my front room either despite everything else being 'black'

@BAMozzy you could always buy it and spray it black, at least you'd know it was phantom pain underneath. Still don't see where I can order one :/

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I like the colour and it would fit in with my decor even if its not entirely black! Its the MGS branding I dislike...

This is torture. "Hey, look at this awesome special edition console that you can't buy if you're in the States". They need to announce a US release date ASAP.

Are there any companies which make bespoke fascia covers or is it difficult. I don't mean stickers - more an imbedded piece of metal or plastic which can either strap over the top or be in place of the cover?

The controller looks ok, but that console really looks horrid to me! I'll stick with my normal black system, thank you.

@JenovaStark Very much agreed. I think it looks pretty good. It's not the best system but I think the overall design is Solid. It'll look nice in my home.

@hYdeks Yeah, which is why I only want the controller. Wouldn't mind Sony releasing dualshock controllers with that same color and w/o the MGS emblem.
