We sense explosions are imminent

You wait ten years for a new car combat title and then three come along at once. Joining Twisted Metal and Smash ‘N’ Survive is Gelid Games’ Wheels of Destruction: World Tour, an “arcade-style car combat shooter set in a post-apocalyptic Earth”.

Gelid promises vehicular carnage across five of the “most dangerous” European regions. Players can expect Capture the Flag and Deathmatch, in addition to “five distinct car classes”.

The game’s powered by the Unreal Engine so we’re a little concerned about performance issues, but we’re quite hot on the game’s “futuristic aesthetic”.

Gelid’s yet to announce a date for Wheels of Destruction but it promises that the game’s coming soon. Hopefully the developer’s smart enough to put some distance between its game and Twisted Metal — for our wallet's sake if nothing else.
