Those engaging in improper behaviour will be issued with a 5,000 day ban from the multiplayer shooter. That's just under 14 years, and effectively a permaban.

What can constitute such a kicking? "Boosting, Cheating, Hacking, Exploiting, Inappropriate behaviour (racial slurs, abusive language, etc)," community strategist Robert Bowling explained.

We appreciate the developer taking such a hard-line with this kind of behaviour. Idiocy in multiplayer games is no fun for anyone, and offenders deserve to be punished.

Elsewhere, Robert Bowling explained that the publisher is hoping to improve the quality of voice communication in the PlayStation 3 version of Modern Warfare 3 — but it is not expecting the patch to pass certification until January 2012.
