Ok so a somewhat under the radar release dropped yesterday that had my interest for some reason. It's basically a choose your adventure style story-driven experience based on the Planet of the Apes franchise. One thing to make clear is that this is certainly not a "game" in the traditional sense, so if you're looking for another weak 3rd person action movie tie-in, you might as well look away from this game now.

Another personal note to make here is that I have no affinity at all really for Planet of the Apes as a film franchise (I think I've seen one?) but this has my attention because I'm always interested in games experimenting into that weird cross between whether something is a game or a movie. As a fan of that kind of genre, we're somewhat spoilt at the moment with the likes of Telltale churning out a new episode of something or other seemingly every few weeks now, not to mention the excellent Life is Strange, Supermassive's latest title Hidden Agenda, and a lot of other developer's working on similar projects.

With that out of the way, I wanted to share my very early thoughts and impressions on what I've seen so far, as well as opening this up as a forum topic just in case there's anyone else on here of similar interest in this as I'd love to hear what they think as well.

For me, I've only just played the prologue (shortly over 20 mins long) so I'm presumably only a smidgen into the full campaign. There's a surprisingly high number of trophies here (36), so perhaps there's a lot more meat to this game than I was originally anticipating.

I don't want to spoil anything but I'm somewhat impressed so far. Like I said, there's no game here. It genuinely is just a series of "this or that" choices to make but they come at a pretty quick pace that you never feel like you're just passively watching for too long. It's kept me involved quite well even though like I said I've only played a small portion. But yeah, it's interesting so far. The voice acting seems on point, there's a few decent plots brewing and I'm keen to see where this story goes.

Anyone else playing or semi-interested in this one?

Played the next 2 chapters now and it's still interesting although it's starting to drag on a little. Chapter 1 was really short but 2 seemed to last forever. I definitely think it's one where you have to pace yourself so you don't get burned out too quickly.

@roe I have a question since I've been interested in this can you use your PS4 controller or do you have to use a mobile device?

@vegeta11 Yeah you can use a regular dualshock 4 or play via the app. It has no real bearing whichever you choose but it's good we have the option
