I don't think I've ever cleaned a console the only time I've had an issue was with the 360 red ring thing, I've had my PS5 since launch and It's been fine. I'll have a look tonight when I get home probably going to be 3 years worth of dust in there lol.

@Max_Headroom I only removed cover last year to add SSD. Will get to it now that got me thinking about at least going that far. Thanks.
(Off-topic….Are you aware of the “Max Headroom broadcast incident” that happened in 1987? Worth checking out the video for a little chuckle.)

Let us know how much dust you find it'll be interesting to see how much it accumulates in 12 months.

I never cleaned my PS4 (nor my PS3 for that matter) and their both still kicking, so I’ll carry on with that philosophy until **** hits the fan as it were 😅

I think due to the size of the fan and the fact they have included dust traps the PS5 may need a little regular maintenance.

@Max_Headroom I've checked behind the plates on both year 1 and 2 of owning my launch day PS5. There was minimal dust there both times. But I do keep the console and the surrounding area relatively dust free.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

@Max_Headroom Just took fan out of PS5 to check for dust buildup. Hardly any at all there nor on the visible part of the heatsink 👍🏻.

Instead of trading toward a new PS5, will instead invest in one of the recommended low power vacuums and make sure I utilize every few months.

Great news, i guess dust build-up is down to how often and how many hours you play it, i will give mine 6 months then check it

@Max_Headroom My PS5 is in the corner of a dampish, carpetless basement. Also in a somewhat enclosed area of TV stand.

May all have some to do with minimal dust (though dampness can be culprit in itself when comes to electronics….I do have electric dehumidifier near PS5 to somewhat mitigate).

Edit / clarification: I do play it often enough to expect dust build up.

I sounds like you are in the perfect place to keep it dust free.
